My favorite saying is: Any sufficiently advanced technology is undistinguishable from magic...Any sufficiently advanced magic is undistinguishable from technology.
Not sure who first said it but I found it in a book that I was reading. Thought it was a very true statement and liked it. I've used it as a signiture online many times.

Well, mine is not dissimilar to yours. When something is usless, I say "it's about as useful as a fish on a bicycle" :-)) And if someone is not picking things up very quickly, I admit I say that they are "a few sandwiches short of a picnic hamper"!. Cheers!

I have never quite understood this saying, it is something that my grandmother used to say when something or someone made her very angry. I found the saying humorous and I continue using it (in her honor!). Here goes:
He/She/that makes my a$$ crave hot buttermilk.

useless sayings: Useful as a screen door in a submarine
useful as a rubber crutch
lying: He lies like a rug
on being stupid: Stupidity should be painful
Here's your sign (from one of the redneck comedians, who said when people do stupid things, we should give them a sign that says- I am stupid.
on taking yourself to seriously: blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

Hi Wolfie, I know this is an old post, but just had to answer it my favorite saying is "fill your boots". Usually used when some one wants to do some thing, and is looking for approval or permission. But if you think of it, it has a lot of potential. Enjoy your discussions

"absolute power corrupts absolutely", this is actually a saying by Lord Acton in 1887 it comes from a letter he wrote to Bishop Mandell Creighton and the full context reads "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men" It's a very acurate observation.

my favourite is 'what doesnt kill me makes me stronger' and 'i believe in what i am instead of what sounds good to the rest of the world.'
i love the two mottos because they are cool, and i think somebody say it originally must be a brave man/woman.

A saying I use quite a lot is 'Every cloud has a Silver lining' or 'it's an ill wind...' I never finish that one though as I am not sure how it goes! I just hope the Silver lining is for me not the cloud! I also use 'C'est la vie!' as it sounds like 'say lavvy' which at a stressful time takes the edge off it a bit.
