Teen charged with baby's rape and murder.

7news yesterday 1-16-07 A teenager has been charged with the rape and murder of a baby girl.
The 14-month-old was found seriously hurt at a house in the Cairns suburb of Westcourt on Monday night.
She was rushed to the Cairns Base Hospital, but died shortly before midnight as a result of her injuries.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out later on Tuesday.
An 18-year-old Palm Island man was arrested at the address in Curtain Street, and questioned by police before being charged.
He is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon, charged with murder, torture and two counts of rape.
What the heck is the childs problem why would someone do this to a innocent child.

i heard it on the news, made me sick in the stomach and why someone would do this to someone as young as this, hope they are locked up for a long time

I hate to say it but I hope they kill him in jail. He had no right to take this child and abuse her like he did.

i hear u, he will go down in jail...a baby that small...she cant even talk yet. I would not have called the police i would have to get my own justice on him. this child rape is crazy what do they get out of doing this

I only heard a quick snippet of this in the news. One thing I do know is when the boy goes to jail he will have the same thing done to him. I have no idea what goes through somebodies mind sometimes. It does make you sick to think of the poor innocent babies being violated like that. They can't always blame the way they have been brought up as there is always a thing called Conscience. The do these thing knowingly and don't really care who aor what they hurt. I also feel sorry for the poor mother. I can't imagine the pain she must be going through.

Any person who has abused a child in any way is a sick individual.In this case,it sounds like the teen was on a power trip plus sexually VERY immature.
To leave your child with someone is showing alot of trust in that individual.This person sounds like they have many issues and I hope they work on them while in jail .
Obviously nothing can be done to bring back the child.Now is the time to help the family left AND the family of the perpetrtator.

It is not a very nice situation. It sounds as if this guy is a pedopile. He deservers to be put under lock and key for the rest of his life and get something like chemical casteration. The teenager has probably been abused at some point in his life too. It is a never ending cycle until someone stops it. I hope he gets life. I am not sure what the penalty for this is in the states.

He is a sick nut job. I hope he goes to jail and never comes out, and gets the gas chamber. I have no idea why so many men do these things, I hear it so often, and was abused too.

That is so terrible. That really scares me because I have a child now and I'm really afraid for her life. I'm not sure if I should let her go out anywhere without me and what are the chances that she'll be alright without me?!

Oh the poor darling :( And the poor parents and family :( I don;t understand how a person could harm a child like that. Truthfully I don't understand how a person could harm ANYBODY. And the reason you and I can't understand it is because we're normal. This 18 yr old youth obviously has a lot of issues - but I dont think he should just have treatment or go to a mental facility- unless the latter is forever. for the term of his natural life. Sad, sad, sad.
