When you are eating at a chinese restaraunt do you prefer chopsticks over your everyday fork?? Have you ever even attempted to try them?? I have and i don't get it ... LOL! I have used chopsticks once with what you call a bit of grace ... LOL! I usually can not keep them in my grasp. How are you when it comes down to the old chop sticks??

We get to eat at Oriental restuarant only on occasion and must admit we use forks. Not sure if this one has any chopsticks in them and have never seen any. They are wonderful people and am glad we get to relax and eat and enjoy the atmostphere. Have never tried to use chopsticks

Well i ain't too sure if Oriental and Chinese are exactly the same ... hmmm ... another thought for discussion there ... LOL! So i wouldn't really know if they also use chop sticks ... weird! Yea i also agree though that the soft and quiet , cozy atmosphere can be most delightful!

Yeah, to be together at the same table is a treat for us too. Am glad most of the time it is not a busy place. We tend to get a bit silly when we eat together.

When I go to a Chinese restaurant I always use the chopsticks. For me it's part of enjoying a different cultural experience. Sometimes I will use the fork if something's particularly awkward. Once you get the hang of using chopsticks, it's actually quite fun!

I always use chopsticks! I only get a fork if I'm having steamed rice with my meal. The chopsticks make it more of a fun experience, it's nice to try something different sometimes.

I use chopsticks. I have a gorgeous hand carved dark wood pair with dragons painted on them that I got in Seattle. I love them and use them whenever I can. I'm actually pretty good with them, but I've been using them for years.

Oh wow! Meomores :) It's been a long, long time since I've eaten Chinese food with chop sticks! At one time, I had gotten pretty good at it but it was with a lot of practice! We just don't eat Chinese food that often anymore.

I am glad that i took you for a walk down memory lane with this!!! I guess practice does make perfect so if you do not eat it as much then there is not much time for practice. I am glad that you used to try and enjoyed trying!!!

Cjhopsticks. Absolutely. It is part of the pleasureofhte experience. Same with Japanese and Korean food. Go to a nice Chinese, Japanese or Korean restaurant sometime when it isn't too busy and ask your waiter to teach you how to use chopsticks. You won't regret it. I can try to describe it, but seeing is so much better. Balance the lower chopstick over your middle finger and across the web of your thumb. Grasp the top one between thumb and forefinger. Now you should be able to bring them together so as to grasp foods.

That is actually a great way to explain that is how my friend told me how to use them. I never realized that your waiter would take the time to teach you ... Now that i know i will be asking!!

I love chinese food. But I only eat it when I get together with my friend. She loves it more than I do. We always eat it with a fork. I have tried using chopsticks but I put them away because I can grab more food with a fork :)

well using chopsticks it is hard at first, i use all the time so i am used to it, but i got a bad habit of pointing one of my finger out when i do use it. so i need to partice more too lol. they say if you can pick up a marbel with a pairs of chopsticks you can do anything, almost like the karate kid movie. if you can catch a fly with a chopstick you can do anything.

I must say I use a fork but thats only because i have tried to eat with the chop sticks and ended up wearing the food lol I was too hungry to keep up the farce so I just used a fork hehe. Sometimes at home I give them a try but usually im also too hungry then to wait ;). I think its amazing though when you see people use them so easily!

chopsticks, my parens taught me to use them when I was young, and I have since become very proficient and often prefer to use them for certain foods, and will use them at home sometimes even, I admit they take a bit to get used to but after a while the experience is actually quite enjoyable and often brings a little more variety to the dinner table

I love chop sticks and will eat with them if possible, but sometimes restaurants do not give you the Chinese soup spoon and it is impossible to eat soup with chop sticks right? So sometimes I just switch back and forth between chop sticks and silverware because as I was saying sometimes they don't give you the right stuff. I love chop sticks though ;). Have a nice day Pablo

This is an amusing topic for me. Yes, I have tried chopsticks. I get them all set up ok, pick up the food, go to lift it to my mouth, and suddenly, the chopsticks open and the food plops out! ha ha ha No, Ronita, I use a fork every time now. Chopsticks are a good dieting tool for me, but if I really want to eat that wonderful Chinese food, I need a fork! lol. Thank you for the laugh! Brightest Blessings.

I usually always use a fork as lame as that sounds lol. I never quite mastered the art of using chop sticks. It's so much easier and faster just to use utensils that I'm accustom to. I tried to use them, and I can do it, but I'm kind of slow at using them.

I am completely useless with chopsticks. Me and my partner went to a Chinese restaurant last night and he was sat there happily munching away using his chopsticks and I couldn't get them to work. I stopped short of stabbing my food with them and politely asked for a fork. He isn't a complete pro at using chopsticks though and by the end of the night was complaining of cramp in his hand - lol. I would like to learn how to use chopsticks though so I will keep trying...but perhaps in the privacy of my own home in the future.

I have never used chopsticks in a restaurant before but I do use them at home sometimes when we have Chinese food. It was a friend of ours that came to stay and asked if we had any so I got out a pair that I had bought and never used, he uses them a lot so he showed me how, I don't think I'm doing it quite right but it works for me so I will keep at it.
