why would the machines let us make a movie that exposes what they do to us? why would they let us make a movie that shows us that we are being controlled in every way?

Yeah you are right. This is in fact a Matrix kind of a world. And I am "The One". Just a minute back, I defeated the Sentinels and killed Agent Smith.
