I have only been taking it a few weeks and it doesn't make me fall asleep anymore. What else can I do?

Well usually your body will grow immune to medicine. Maybe your doctor just wants to see how you react with it before he gives you the real dose of it. My mom's doctor does that for her. Ambien isn't right for some people... and that might be why you "could" be on a trial of it. I do not know for sure, but definitly talk to your doctor about it.

I've been taking Ambien for a couple of years now. For the most part it seems to work, but there are occassional nights that I feel like I haven't even taken it. Some nights within 10 mins. I feel a little drowsy and then there are other nights that I lay in bed for 45 mins. not feeling drowsy at all. Don't quite understand why that happens. I'm going to try the Ambien CR because there are nights that I wake up during the night and feel wide awake. I do know that if I don't take it I don't sleep. Maybe a psychological thing or not. I do feel it is addictive.

You should speak with your doctor about this. Why is it that you are not sleeping? Has your doctor done any kind of workup? There may be medical or psychological issues related to insomnia. You don't want to become dependent on stronger and stronger sleeping pills on a daily basis.
