We were just having a similar conversation about metal detectors yesterday. There are many places that offer rich treasures, but you need the detector to be able to find them. It may be something that we purchase in the future. Good find for you!

omg, it's so much fun to metal detect. in April im going on a trip to a civil war site that we got permission to search, we hunted last year but the spot we tried was hunted out already, so we are going deeper in the woods to see if we can hit jackpot, I will post pics if we find something! :) also joining this awesome tresure huting in south florida and they are going to teach me all the hotspits of the area. :) krissy

man with metal detector - a man with metal detector..
Wow you're lucky to find those jewelry. Are you searching for these things out of hobby or are you making it like a job? I'd like to do this sometime but I don't live near the beach. Have you earned enough to pay for your metal detector?Good luck to you!

Well it's more of a hobby, but this is my plan. I have alot of people here wants to be my partner. I want to start my own recovery team. I am going to continue to invest in more equipment. So whatever I find it will probally be sold for more detectors. :) you never know maybe one day I can find one of those lost forgotten sunken 1715 ships on the east coast of florida! ...the sky is the limit! :) krissy

That's a pretty neat find! I don't have a metal detector, but I've never really had a need for one. I have found money on the side of the road. When I was 17 I found 8 $1 bills. Then just last year I found a $10 bill. Finding money is fun =)

You lucky dog...well so do I..I'm always finding money on the sides of roads, etc. I found $40.00 once walking home from work. Found $20.00 right outside of a store. Found $1.00 bills strewn all over the side of a road once. Maybe it's luck! :) krissy

I was thinking of this comment I made, last night. I got out of the car at the store and found a dollar bill right there. It's only a dollar, but it was still pretty exciting. On top of that, I was returning cans and the dollar I found gave me just enough to buy my daughter a new outfit (winter clothes sale! =D).

WhoooHoooo!!!, tiggyann! That's an excellent find and a reason to keep looking! :) Very good going... I found a set of gilded crystal hummingbirds in a dumpster, 5 out of the original set of six, lifesize and handmade... went for $200.00!

yes, that is what keeps me looking for more! :) You know that is great you found those hummingbirds. I see other people trash is someone elses treasure. I found 2 oil paintings sitting outside of a dumpseter once, brought it home been hanging in my home ever since, and my mother in laws claims they are so beautiful. :) lol krissy

they are very very nice jewels and to be honest i don't know if i was u if i could have the heart to sell them. they are so pretty i am almost sure i would have kept them to myself. my grand-grand-grandpa was a gold digger, but the old fashioned gold digger (metal detectors weren't invented back then) and i found one of his journals (he used to keep one to write everything he had discovered and location to everything, imagine that). but unfortunatelly i only skimmed a little in his journal when i found it and i planned to read it at leisure once i got back home. the problem is my mother found it (was in quite a bad shape) and not knowing what was with it she threw it away. i found out she did that only weeks later. i also don't know if he ever found anything or not, the stories about this were long time forgotten in my familly and the journal which could clearify that is now gone. anyway really nice discovery, good luck to u in the future

awe that is sure sad..a part of your history is now gone. :( Well I also do the old timer gold digging. Last septemember my husband built me a rockerbox to go stream hunting. I have done extensive research on the slate belt that runs through the carolinas and have pinpointed where to do my hunting at. I want to try it out on gold anyways. I have used it for gemstone hunting and works great. But last year I didn't have my gold mat when they built it so I didn't catch any gold in my box. I would like to try it out this spring and see what I can find! :) krissy

Finders keepers, baby! No, if there was a name, I would have made a search, but as it is, you did all you could. What do you use, and where do you go? Since moving to FL and getting a Sand Shark for the beach, I haven't found too much.

You are luck to find those items. My friend's friends detected for the whole day, they found 5 golden Buddha statues, costs more than US$2000, and 6 silver Buddha statues, around US$500 and another day they found a jar of French coins. But all has been returned and kept in the mountain’s museum.

Wow! That's gorgeous! I have always wnated to get a metal detector and just comb the beach somewhere. I imagine that you could make a killing after the 4th of July or someother holiday like that. And as far as the people telling you how bad you are for not turning the things you find in to the Police go, people who wear this stuff to the beach take their chances, that's why the smart ones have insurance on their jewelry. Keep it up and please keep posting, I really enjoy your photos!

I'm waiting for spring break and bikeweek! One of my friends has a father in law that has a metal detector and she told me he hit the beach after spring break and found $6000.00 in loot at the beach. rings, chains, bracelets, etc. Anywhere were people gather for events are great, they drop all kinda of treasure, rings, necklaces, coins, etc. krissy
