Sending flowers or a plant.

Do you send flowers to a friend or relative other than on a holiday? Have you ever sent them to someone who has made your day better? I received a Peace Lily from one of my clients. She said it was because I was such a wonderful, patient, caring person and she appreciated my help. That was 6 months ago. I still have the plant and will keep it forever. Sometimes just a simple gesture, a single rose, a vase of flowers, or a houseplant will make a person's day a little brighter. It did mine.

I have sent flowers to friends and family without it being a holiday to let them know that I am thinking about them and let them know that I care and appreciate everything they have done for me. I think it is nice to think of people on days other than holidays. It will make a persons day nicer.

Last year I remember I attended a seminar with Avon and for the souvenir each of us were given a plant. It's a small pot that contains 7 vietnam rose plants with 7 colors, white, pink, yellow, etc., It's really great to receive something like that. At least since they have roots they will live longer unlike flowers.

I sent a red rose to my husband once when I was going out with him. And I sent flowers to my mother. I can't remember who else I sent flowers to but it's something I would do only for those who are very close to me. I gave my friend a box of handmade chocolates last week because she was feeling a bit down. I thought of giving her flowers or a plant but decided against it as she was so fragile that when the flowers die eventually, or if anything had happened to the plant, I thought it might upset her. It's probably a silly idea but I decided on the chocolates as the best course of action. :)

Ilove plants and have many of them in our house but I would hesitate to send a plant to any friend of mine because they don't do well with plants and would kill them. Then they are embarrassed when you come over and it is gone or sadly going. So I send flowers, they are expected to die. Now saying that my friends know I love plants and they do send me plants.

I do not send them but I do give them. When my roses are in bloom, I will often share them with others for no special reason, just because. Or if there is a sale going on and I know someone is having a hard time, I will pick some up for them and give them to them.

That is really so sweet!! ^_^ I love that she sent you that. I've never even heard of a Peace Lilly. But what a beautiful name it is! I'm sure that the plant itself is beautiful, as well. ^_^ My family used to keep a lot of plants around the house when I was quite young. I really enjoyed having them around. But we haven't had any in years and years.

the last time i sent flowers to someone was years ago. i sent a bouquet of flowers to my favorite teacher right before graduating from college (2000). and it really made her happy. i know the feeling when one receives flowers. my boyfriend surprises me everytime. even if we're in a long distance relatonship, he still sends me flowers by ordering through the internet. it somehow makes my day a whole lot better!

Am thrilled to hear that this still happens. Something as simple as a note often goes undone in this day and age. Back in olden days the color of a flower even said something. Calling cards were also a nice touch when someone came calling and you were not in. Would be great to get back to these kind of things again. Sometimes this small touch is a great thing to the receiver.

You are right! I don't do this but I have been on the receiving end. It was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. A guest of our Lab sent me flowers the week after his visit. I helped with some paperwork for his visit and he sent flowers thanking me for my kindness. It was all part of my job. The bouquet was huge and gorgeous.

I think giving a plant is much better than just giving out flowers.First it is not environmental friendly and also just last for couple days and that's it.But for plants, you can own it for couple of years or even longer! The person who receive the plant can always remember you.More meaningful and also memorable!Cheers!

My sister sent me a bunch of plants (in a huge pot) for my birthday last year. So far I've managed to keep most of them alive. LOL :)

Yes, I have. I enjoy sending nice plants that are easy to care for. They enhance a room and last for a very long time. So people can remember who thought of them one day. I have sent them to relatives, primarily, when it was not a holiday or a birthday. it's always a nice surprise!

I agree that plants are best. You have to also keep in mind that often times the person that you are gifting the plant to does not have much of a green thumb. Choosing one that requires little care is best.
