STILL can't play

A few months ago, I bought a deck of cards, chips, and an instruction booklet on how to play poker. That booklet didn't help much and I couldn't get my sister to play. Even though she was interested, she didn't know how to play either. So it's like the blind leading the blind, if you know what I mean.
So all of your experienced poker players out there, how did you learn? And if you taught yourself from a book, what was the title of it?
I'd love to learn, but at this point, am becoming discouraged.

Playing online is definitely the way to get started. Send me a message and I can let you know my site where you can play all day for free. And, if you get good or lucky, you can even win some cash.

Online is a great way to start, just make sure to stay in freerolls and play money tables but only use this as an aid because people play very loose(playing in a lot of hands and betting big) at these tables. When most play for real money they play much more tight (playing less hands). If you want to learn Holdem I recommend Howard Lederer's "Secrets to Holdem Poker". It has alot of great stuff for beginners.

Much you must to know, i think for first time to play poker is do not to use your own money, just use sign up bonus, many of poker site offer that so why not use it to play. Play freeroll and play money not help experience to much, you know why, just nothing to lose. The different for freeroll and play money only nothing for something and nothing for nothing.
If you go on to a site poker you will get nothing, try some of poker portal, they offer more bonus but if you us resident, hehehe sorry you only can play some little site with little bonus ....
