Tigger is a cat with impeccable timing. She was rescued about a year ago from the Humane Society by her now owner, Caroline Behr. Who knows where that family would be today if not for their brave adopted kitty. The cat alerted it's owner to smoke early Tuesday morning, allowing Behr and her daughter just enough time to call 911 and escape. Caroline said the cat jumped on her and then sat until she woke up. Firefighters rescued the family via a ladder through their second story window. Tigger also escaped by jumping from the window himself, and he was unharmed. Caroline told her daughter (who apparently had the idea to adopt the cat) that she saved the cat, and now the cat had saved her. Aww!! ^_^ I just love touching stories like this, don't you? ^_^ More here: http://www.davesdaily.com/out.php?id=23750&url=http%3A%2F%2Fkutv.com%2Fwatercooler%2Fwatercooler_story_018024900.html

I have heard of several stories where the family pet has saved lives. They seem to be able to sense danger and will do anything to protect their family. Way to go, Tigger!!

Don't get me wrong, cats are appreciative and loyal. But, I think that they can be selfish and a scardy cat at times. And, this Brave Kitty was not!! Dogs, are loyal and appreciative also. And, they also save people in fires!! I think everyone should just appreciate pets more than just 'pets'. They are our protective friends!! :DD

Aww what a great story. :-) Just one more reasons I love cats. My cat also did this for me once. I had worked a 16 hr shift at 911 and was fast asleep when he started hitting me in the chin with the top of his head. The breaker box (which was beside my bed) was smoking. If he hadn't woke me up the whole place would have been on fire and with my bed just inches away there's no way I would have gotten out. As it was I was able to get the guy next door who took care of it for me.

Wow, this is an amazing story and for people who own cats, i do not think it is that much of a shock. Ive had a cat for about 13 years now and I can tell you that cats are unlike any other animals. They connection they have with their owners is unbelievable. They may walk around like they own the place, but they are truly animals capable of thinking, and loving.

Thanks for the story, I love hearing stories like that. I used to work for a company that cleaned up after Fires. There were several fires, where the home owners were alerted to the fire by their pets, cats as well as dogs.

I love to hear stories like this one. And finally a story of a cat doing the rescuing instead of a dog! Thanks to Tigger for making the felines proud! Animals really are amazingly protective of their owners, aren't they? The problem with cats, at least with mine, is that he wakes me up so often with "false alarms", like if he just wants to play or be a pain in the neck, that I hope I would take him seriously if it were legitimate!

What a great story. Thank you for sharing it with os, and the best part is that it is true. It just goes to show that cats do know who their owners are and do care for them. And I must say the daughter did a good job in picking a good cat. I am a strong beliver in that the best animals are the ones that you get from shelters;-)

It is incredible how some pets can do such feats. How do they know. It boggles the mind sometimes to think of it.

I was relieved when it was mentioned that the cat was also safe from fire. I mean in times of trouble and panic, people will save themselves and forget about their pets whereabouts. I'm so glad that Tigger made its way out of the house too.
