I have been playing Texas Holdem for approximately 4 years in live local tournaments and online. Curious if anyone wants to discuss general strategies, best places to play (online or live), best articles, books or movies, and if there are any little known websites to get information for free.

Try Full Tilt Poker. Nice site with good graphics, lots of special features and a regular newsletter with poker tips.
I like PokerStars. Good solid site with a couple of nice features. Reliable software.
I've tried a dozen or two and I keep coming back to these two.

Have you heard that July 7, 2007 is going to be the end for US players. I wonder if anyone has come up with another way around the new ports law?

What?! Do you mean all sites will cut us off, no matter how we get our funds to them? (I know that Neteller has stopped transferring our money to gambling sites.)
The law doesn't prohibit playing poker. It limits the means by which we get our funds to the sites. Why would the sites cut us off completely? That really sucks.
Do you have a link to this info online? Thanks.

There are some sites still taking new US customers until July 7, 2007 from my understanding. I have been told by others playing these sites and trying to confirm that. Those sites are: Poker Stars, Full Tilt, Absolute Poker, Bodog, and a few smaller sites. I have been playing on www.nlop.com where you do not transfer your funds, basically it's just freerolls, but you can still win cash and prizes.

I would consider myself somewhere in the middle. I've been playing a couple of years ago and have started finishing higher in the list. I still haven't been winning big but I can play a month on a couple hundred dollars.
I also started my own site to intice players for freerolls - http://www.holdemrocks.com. I've been able to make about $50 per month from this site to help my habit.
I would also love to know of other sites.

Nice site, I see why it is earning some money. Do get rake backs or do they give you a flat finders fee?
