main message: that the fabric of the universe conspires not against but with you.
while it sounds damn right absurd - as well it should - it also makes more and more sense as you pursue your dreams. the alchemist is definitely allegorical - i mean, willpower isn't going to make you fly without some serious jetpower =) - but its an allegory which can be applied to anything, anywhere. Coelho's intent? To make people realise that they don't know their limits. Impossible may never actually be nothing, but it may get damn well close.
