at what age should your adult children be adults?

ok I bought a video game for my step-son for christmas, it worked great on the playstation I bought 5 yrs ago and gave to him at christmas since he uses it more that me, now a month later the old system won't play the game. I think the game is good but the system is old, so I guess my question is should we get another system to try it on, should I just go ahead and get him a new copy of the game, or should he act him 23 years of age and get his own damn system and game?
