yeah, i guess, somehow, mothers must know how to fry an egg, boil water, peel potatoes, cook rice, and all that, huh? thanks for your response.

I hope I can make a contribution here, though not a woman. I don't think it is necessary for a woman to learn to cook. I am not against women being great cooks. But women should be given the freedom to set their prioritis right. If they need more space in their career and afford to have some paid domestic help, that would be fine. It is really sick to insist on cooking from your mothers and wives, if they need to perform better in a field where they are proficient and interested in.

yes, a man's opinion is very much welcome here. i actually wanted to seek a man's point of view here, and your response really deserves a rating. thanks.

I think every one should learn to cook. Both men and women. since in many families both adults work they should also share the cooking, laundry and vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. Cooking is only a part of keeping ahousre going. what if the woman or man ends up living alone. Do they want to eat out all the time. and those frozen entrays get a little old. so I thing both men and women should learn to cook as well as how to sew on buttons and make other repaisrs

It doesn't make you a bad person if a woman can't cook. It seem to be happening more and more as women go out to work. I took a cooking class when I was in high school. I don't know if they are still offered, but I think they should be. I think every person needs to know how to cook, men and women. You can't live off fast foods all the time. It dosn't take a genious to learn how to cook. Get a cookbook and have at it. In my mothers generation, it was expected that the woman cook or else she wasn't a proper wife. These days, I think it should be a shared responsibility if both of them are working. Take turns, I cook during the week and my hubby cooks on the weekend.
If you don't want to take all that time, get a crockpot and through the stuff in before going to work, turn it on, and dinner will be ready when you walk in the door.

no it will not amke you a bad person, why is it the responsibility of cooking always falls on women and not men. women have to juggle their jobs, take care of their kids and do all the housework,on the other hand men only work, do nothing else.i dont agree its only womans responsibility to cook. men alos have an equal responsibility.

thanks for your response. don't you just hate it that women are being (or were once?) stereotyped as belonging to the kitchen alone?

Yes, it is required but not necessary all women has to cook even men can share cooking.
You won't get the satisfaction of eating food anywhere in the world except the food which is cooked and served by your mother/wife. This is true bcoz you are used to home cooked food from your early childhood days and your inner heart has the taste ,smell and love of food cooked in your home.
Outside food may be good for a day or two but if u start eating regularly u get fed one day and you will look for home cooked food, cooked in your family.
Always the food cooked by your mother/wife is the tastiest food in the world.

According to my husband that would make for a bad wife. He's old fashion and likes me to prepare his meal every night for him. But he is not picky and always tells me how delicious it was. I dont mind cooking for him. Im a pretty good cook so it comes easy to me. I have one daughter that cooks like me and another who is not into cooking at all. She finds partners who cook for her. They dont seem to mind since they know shes not into it.
