Patti Smith :)
She had a great influence on the music scene. She also made part of a punk band so I think it's a real queen of rock 'n' roll.

Ow yes indeed, Patti Smith is brilliant. You gotta have her album from 2004, great things on it!

I guess that means Freddie Mercury is out, too. In that case, I'd either go with Janis Joplin, who had the intensity but not the longevity, or maybe Joan Jett, who was the opposite. Of the newer generation, and as much as it might hurt for me to say, no one embodies the rock and roll spirit quite like Courtney Love.

Nice picks, and yes Freddie is out too! Courtney Love is a great choice, I hadn't thought of her. Joan Jett is another good choice for rock and roll queen. I think I need to take back my post about Madonna, as she isn't rock, but pop! Don't know what I was thinking there!

PJ Harvey, how could you not come up with her!! She's the best female rocker I can now come up to.
She makes quality rock, not like most female rockers. I also like 'Eddie Brickells and the last bohemians (don't know how you write but you know).

PJ Harvey is awesome, you are right, but as far as being a queen of rock and roll like the equivelant of Elvis I'm not so sure. If I had to pick a queen I think I'd go with Madonna. Only because her career has lasted so long and is still popular.
Oh, and Eddie Brickell is great as well!

This is a very good question Sript, I adore Maddona but she is more Queen of pop, so I would have to think along the lines of Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, or Ann Wilson all three are still strong and stood the test of time. I will probably be thinking about this all day now.
