It is time once again for the Girl Scouts to hit the streets! They will be going door to door selling those fabulous cookies everyone loves. My daughter sold over 300 boxes last year and used the money she earned to go to camp! She made so many new friends and got to experience camp life to the fullest. She can't wait to go again this summer. Make sure you buy a box of cookies from your local Girl Scout! For some girls, this is the only way they can pay their way to camp!

It is very frustrating. I think they are going to be starting something new where the credit is given to the troup as a whole and not credited to each girl too. I am not sure I like that idea either. I can absolutely see your point about those girls who work hard and sell a few boxes, where others simply send the form to work with dad and sell tons. It has always been that way, and it has never seemed fair. I can honestly say my daughter sold almost all 430 boxes of cookies by herself this year. There were a few girls in her troop who made no effort to sell any cookies at all. That is why I will be upset if they decide to split the credit evenly. I wish they would make a new system! Do you have any suggestions?

Do you by chance have an idea about how to rectify this? Some who sell many, do not do all the work, and some who sell less do all the selling. I have a girl that sold 105 boxes on pre-orders. She has more orders also to add on. She did not sell as much as some, but she did it all on her own and to me she deserves as much as the girl that sell 250 and only sold 50, or less, on her own, Or how about the girl I had one time, who's Dad bought 40 some boxes so she could get the patch, and the others were from his work. . I also have some that sell 10 or 20 and had to ask 30-40 people to get them. She also worked very hard. It is hard to know who works hard and who does not.
Girl Scouts pledge to help others. While i have girls that do not sell pay their own way on trips, I do not do the same for any girl that sold cookies. Even if it is just a few. I have a girl that only sold three. I will ask her to come to a booth sale or two to raise her participation. That way all are contributing in some way.

We have already been hit. We dont like girl scout cookies but we always buy them from the girls and give them away. Missionaries serving in our area are always glad to get them. We usually end up buying at least 6 boxes or more. We try to support the kids in our community any way we can. Good luck to your daughter

I love girl scout cookies. My favorite are caramel delites (Samoa's) and thin mints.. My daughter was a girl scout for 4 years.. She is 10 now and decided to not join this year.
Selling cookies is a great way to earn extra money. However in our troop the money did not go to the girl who sold them- but to the group and could not be used for camp-- they did outings, amusement parks, zoo, museum, etc.
Still buying girl scout cookies helps out a great cause!

As a former girl scout myself, I always support our local troup and buy girl scout cookies every year. Cookies do not last long around my house!!

It really is good for the kids. They have such a good time at camp and the meetings. My girl is having some hockey players come to their meeting tonight to talk about hockey! She is so excited. It is only $10.00 a year to register for Girl Scouts too so it is a perfect option for parents who don't have tons of cash to spend on entertainment for their kids.

My dad just bought 5 boxes from the neighbor girl the other day. We can't say no to those cute girl scouts.

We tend to buy girl scout cookies when they come to the door or at the stores we go to. The money we pay goes to a good cause and means alot to the little girls :). Wish i had the chance to be in it when I was younger.

I LOVE girl scout cookies, and have already ordered FIVE boxes. I'm sure I'll get roped into more, those girls are VERY cute and convincing. I am a girl scout cookie snob and only eat thin mints. THEY ARE SOOOOO GOOD! I do eat a lot, though, so it's OK.

We live in town, but where we live, they do not allow door to door sales. You can get in a lot of trouble. But they can in the stores, and we usually buy a box or two for support. And for the yummy cookies. :)

I have about 35 cases in my van right now in preparation for our booths this weekend. It should me warm, but not to warm for them to stay in the car. I love the cookies, but hate the stress that comes with the sale of them. Sometimes I wish I could enjoy them without thinking, Do I have enough?Do I have too many? Will all the money be turned in? Will we lose any cookies to theft, damage, etc. It is hard to have thousands of dollars of other peoples money and not stress about it.

Boy do I feel your pain. I always end up with 10-20 extra boxes of cookies that were supposedly ordered, but after all the cookies on the list are delivered they still remain. Do they reproduce when we are not looking? I never do the booth thing, we just sell door to door so we just order what we need. No matter how organized you are it still takes some time to get that many cookies delivered.

I never knew that selling the Girl Scout cookies was the only way they could go to camp. Those cookies are the greatest, Thin Mints are my favorite. Seems like your daughter is having a blast, and I will be sure to buy some this year..for sure!
