ever since i was born i've been suffering from asthma. when i was in grade school i had an attack every month and i would not attend school for a week because i had to stay stay in the hospital. a lot of people said when i'll reach the age of 12 i'll be cured, but i never did. i'm now 18 and yet i'm still suffering from asthma. my parents did everything they can to stop it, i had lots of medicines and a pulmo-aid,it would lessen the attacks but it didn't stop. i guess i'll be asthmatic for the rest of my life. but it can't stop me to live a happy and healthy life.

you can't get rid of asthma but you can live with it happily...i'm an asthmatic too.. not since birth but it started when my tonsils where remove due to Kissing Tonsils.. and after that i have live through nearly the same grade school routine you have. having asthma attacks nearly every month..being admitted to the hospital for nearly 4 time a year, not including out-patient emergency's early in the morning..during my highschool years the attacks have settled down to 2 major attacks and 1 hospital admissions in a year. and now...nearly none..slight attacks are still their, especially when having a combo sickness of cold & cough.
How to live with asthma?...Know your allergies. Asthma is an allergic reaction..so be mindful of what things, foods, routines, or anything that would get you an asthma attack..and after knowing it, try to avoid it..do some exercise also...start with mild exercise, like walking in a park or walking in an area where their are no cars to spoil the fresh air..and do it in the morning...exercise and also good food..and also be mindful on your physical situation..stress can make you vulnerable to colds, and may induce an attack..so, relax...emotional condition may also trigger it..
so stay relax..healthy..do some exercise..and REST.

i've never experienced asthma before, but i know several people who have it. Its possible to get rid of it just by changing whats around your environment. I see that you live in the Philippines and the pollution can be a big factor of your asthma. What might help you can be to get rid of the toxic chemicals in your home that you may not be aware of. Some of these toxic chemicals can be bleach, household cleaners, and personal care products. Im actually part of a company that promotes environmentally safer products, and we've had many stories from our customers that their asthma went away. Unfortunatley we are not part of the Philippines yet,but we will be in the next couple of years hopefully.

I am the same, i was born with asthama and i have alot of health issues with it. I really cannot give you any advice on how to help it i actually posted the exact same topic.
As you are 18 there is still a chance it will go away when you are 21, it either leaves you at 16,18 or 21. Because i have hayfever it is even worse for me i wake up most nights unable to breath and have to try and take my inhalour with no breathe.
Just always make sure you have a spare inhalour i run out all the time and have to call the paramedics, i have been given steriods and 6 inhalours to take so mines in not getting better but that is because i smoke.
Good luck my friend.

Yes a person can grow out of having asthma. I didn't get it untill I was about 46 yrs. old. but sometimes it's not as bad as others.

Well, have you tried traditional chinese remedies to treat your asthma?
I did, and it worked really well. Especially if you are a kid. Now that you are 19, I guess you have to try to know for sure.
There is a recipe for asthma using crocodile meat. You can get the recipe from any chinese medical hall.
You can also try drinking lots of mutton soup. It works for me.
The other one that my granny used to cook for me is peanut root soup. Boiled with ribs (of your choice) and drank with rice. It is really delicious. Or you can try to boil it with crocodile ribs or bones to make a really rich soup. Also delicious and good for treating asthma as well.

I did not know that you can get rid of asthma once you get it. I thought it's permeanant. I could be wrong though. Since I do not have it, I don't know much about it. But, I agree that you should live your life and not let that bother you at all. Good luck with that and stay healthy.

Unfortunatley I too have asthma since I was 2. When I reached 12 It went away for 2 years, then I turned 14 and it was worse than ever. It has been that way since and it is no longer just asthma it has now reached severity. I am living my life I would love to no longer have asthma but I am grateful to be alive.

I've suffered from mild asthma since I was 18, followed by sleep apnea and arthritis. I've found that cycling, swimming and walking help. I did a lot of sport at school and I think that was the reason why I didn't need a pump until afterwards. I found that I used asthma as an excuse not to do exercise, which is not a good idea.
I've heard about an Australian Olympic medalist who beat asthma through swimming, can't remember the name though. I hope that asthma doesn't affect your life too much janco31 but don't expect a miracle cure to come anytime soon.
