I am not against accounts being sold on e-bay. In my understanding, what is being sold is "time."
However, as one who has leveled my toons from level one to level 60, I prefer to raid/game with gamers who have attained the understanding and skill sets of their toons as did I -- through on-hands experience. This is particularly relevant for the caster class of Warlock.
Knowing which demon will be more appropriate to employ in a given environment is knowledge gained through playing the toon. The "if mob is humanoid, pull out the succubus" strategy straight from the "owner's manual" doesn't necessarily mean it is the best strategy to use to achieve one's objective.

I totally disagree. Why? Well, first of all this somehow shows a path to piracy. Instead of buying the game and bringing money to it's developers you just download the game (piracy) and use the account bought from ebay. FOr a couple of $ more you can just buy the game, have your own account, you own legal copy of the game, techincal support and.. a nice box & cover :P

I do. It also depends on the community if they'll buy accounts for sale. Actually, it's so hard selling accounts online. Players would rather want a character that they've invested their time and money on than characters that're buffed up just for the purpose of selling it.

I agree with giving players the option to do so as they have invested time and monthly fees to play it. All of the accounts I see on Ebay comes with the note: "Purchasing their time spent on the account" which I think is fair.
You'd be surprise to know that many of accounts sold are to other countries especially Asia where it is hard to get a copy of the game itself. I do not think this is wrong cos afterall these players will be paying monthly fees.
Well thats just my 2 cents.
Cheers!
Daryl

No i dissagree, the reason that i dissagree is that the people who buy them online just makes them as a hash word a noob. and they dont learn to play there class at all and end up (if you are raiding) causeing more problems in raids then helping them so i dissagree with selling them online

it dont matter to o much to me, its good bisunness im sure, i saw some going for like 2,000, but i think the people buying for that much should get a life and are losers. thats way too much. buyoing a lvl 30 for 30 is more what you would hope for.

I would want an account that I could raise up from level 1 to play. I don't find anything wrong with buying accounts online because i know people who have done it but I personally would rather just buy the game myself and work on the character myself.
Plus the accounts that are sold like on ebay and other auction places that i have seen are way over priced in my opinion.

If the game actually allows players to sell their account then it seems legal at least.
Whether this is a desperate move is another issue.
And I also hope that actualy do complete the transaction.
Just wonder who is more desperate - the seller or the people bidding!!

I think it's messed up that we pay $15 a month and invest years into characters, but we still can't call them are own and try to profit from our work. I've levelled up a few accounts and tried to sell them on ebay, but thanks to the nazis at Blizzard, the auctions always get yanked within a couple days. It got to the point that I had to take a tutorial on intellectual property on ebay in order to reactivate my account. I still sold the accounts, but I wasn't able to get as much as I could have if the auction went full term. I just ended up contacting some of the highest bidders and negotiating with them. To get around it now, a lot of people just put their auctions up for 3 days so that they don't get caught.

It's hard to trust accounts being sold on ebay or any other auction site.
It's hard to confirm if the account is legimate or not. It might be a stolen or hacked account. Or it might even be a dummy account.
I have been trying to sell my guildwars account on a person to person basis. I don't want to do it on any auction site. I might be mistaken for a hacker or something or I might just end up being scammed myself.
I think if you want to sell any online/mmorpg account offer it to someone you know or someone who knows someone you know, that sort of stuff, instead of online auction sites. =)

I'm totally disagrre because this way people will play to win and not for fun.I don't really understand how a player can be proud of buying their 60lvl avatar.you always need to remember that is a game so have fun make it on your own and you will be very pround of what you made

You know, it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the player community to trade accounts or items for real currency, but if you think about it, the players selling them have invested real money and time on them (if it's a paid game service), so why shouldn't they be entitled to sell them? This is, of course, not true for people who use bots to level characters and obtain rare items or huge amounts of in-game currency. I suppose the only real thing that could be objectionable pertains to the copy/trademark rights held by the game developer and distributor and how they feel the community should use their game and intellectual property. Hope that made sense.
