What happens when you change servers?

My boyfriend recently got caught doing some things he should'nt be doing online and in trun one of the things he decided to do was switch servers on his WoW game, i guess you can talk to people while you play or something, i dont know i dont understand the whole WoW thing. But i was just wondering what happens when he changes servers? What does that mean? Need help with this one.

Well if he transfered his toon from one server to another then his toon retains the lvl but he will be playing with all new people. If he just switched servers this mean that he is going to start a new toon on another server. See in world of warcraft there are many diffent servers. Its kinda like defferent worlds. Each server has the same npcs just has different pcs. Npcs non players, pc players. Hope it helps.

when he changes servers he loses his character, and has a make a new one. he can only access his other character when he is on the original server he created it on.

this is not true, he is capable of purchasing a character transfer in which case he will retain the same character with all equipment and all gold. He will retain honor points reputation and experience. His entire characters data will just be changed to a different server is all.

He could also change his name by going to the sever he's gunna move to, creating a character with the same name, then moving his current character to the destination server and it will ask him to change his name; that way he can hide his identity for good :)
