Every time I pick my nephew up from school the school secretary seems like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Kids are usually lined up and there is always at least one parent in the office. Secretaries in schools seriously have a lot of work. My question is...do they do more than the teachers?

Yes, school secretary does harder because apart from his studies, he takes part in welfare of his colleagues. He used to respond to each and everybody. He used to participate in school management discusion everywhere. He represents the masses.Hence he works harder and harder for his suvival in next election. Good luck.

I can say that we just see the secretaries more often doing their work than the teachers. Teachers also have a lot in their hands and they are most of the time confined with these work either in the faculty room or in their homes. At a time that the secretary is already enjoying her sleep, some teachers are still preparing lessons, preparing presentations, designing exams, or checking exams, and probably doing some other things related to her classes.. We probably have this impression that the secretary works hard because we see them working but in fairness, the work of a teacher is harder because it requires child psychology, presentation skills, expertise in her area, assessment techniques, research, and administrative work. Secretary's work is mostly confined on administrative and operational tasks. :-)

I think they do a lot more than the teachers do. They have 500+ kids, a principal, parents, all of the teacher and staff relying on them, plus they have to keep the school running and answer the phones without going insane. I have done similiar work before, but you couldn't pay me enough to be in that kind of position.

I agree with you that a secretary does in fact have alot of work to accomplish everyday. However, ultimately i do not think that a secretaries job even comes close to a Teachers job. A Teacher's job never ends! A Teachers job goes home with them every night and consists of individual marking, assessing and teaching sometimes up to 40 students at a time. This does not end for a Teacher as my mom has been a Teacher for 15 years and is 100% dedicated and she has to do her plans , her marking, her report cards plus understand so many young abd different minds. I am doubting that a secratary has alot to do but their day is not always that hectic as you hardly have students or parents in the office much at all during the day they just have the phones. I agree that after school and in the mornings would however be a rather hectic time!!

Well i believe the teacher is hard worker, as she/he manages the students in imparting disciple and education and builds up their knowledge.
