Are you afraid of getting old?

We are all getting older .. nothing we can do about it .. but are you prepared for old age .. have you made plans where to live or what kind of living accomodation you will eventually end up in? I am slightly past middle age .. I have several disabilities, my mother is still alive but is in her 80's .. my sister lives In Australia and I am in the UK .. I will be all on my own very soon, I know that .. so I have to think ahead and decide what kind of place I want to 'retire' to before I am too old or disabled to cope with the move .. I am not afraid of getting old .. but I do wonder how I will cope with life once I am completely on my own.

I don't think about it as I would get myself in a State I am planning on moving down the South soon so I will be down there and my Kids up here but that does not scare me as I drive and my Son drives also my Daughter is planning on her test soon I am still able to move about and do things myself a lot slower then what I used to but I can still do it so before I have to start relying on People which I hope won't be for a long time I am going to move and live my Life now

Everyone's getting older everyday. During our childhood years, we always look forward to getting old enough to be able to run our lives just the way our parents do. When we're there, we realize it's not that easy coping with day to day life, yet we're always doing good enough coping. Then the oldie years shall be setting in. No, there is nothing at all to worry about being old. It's just that we don't look forward to the illness which the oldies usually experience. But look now, even the younger ones are experiencing these illnesses: rheumatism, heart attacks, and the like. I'd most probably settle where I am now. Life in the Philippines is good and friendly enough for the old folks.

Yes, I am! I never was until this year and now Im only a couple of months away from turning 30 and that really scares me! I still like to think of myself as being young and youthful but Im looking older and I know the lines will start to grow on my face! I dont want to leave the twenties!

I like being in my 40's mostly. I like the person I have become inside. Im not so happy about whats going on outside though. My biggest fear of getting older is illness and being dependent on others to care for me and perhaps the loss of dignity that comes with old age dometimes. I would feel like I was a burden as I am a very independent person. I also fear getting ill when Im older due to the state of the health service in Ireland which is really bad.

Preparing for old age(just as planning for everyday)should be seeking to know GOD more and Planning for Eternity- SEEKING THE KINGDOM OF GOD. We live in a world/earth where everything will pass away; The houses, cars, money, clothes, food, and even people will pass away, but the WORD OF GOD WILL NEVER PASS AWAY (LUKE 21:33). So seeking the KINGDOM of GOD should be the priority of every living human being, for we will leave everything here on earth to meet OUR GOD after this LIFE. SO HOW ARE YOU PREPARING TO MEET HIM ?. JESUS LOVES YOU, SEEK TO KNOW HIM MORE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU WILL LIVE IN JOY , NOW AND FOR ETERNITY. GOD BLESS YOU.

Nah, no need to be afraid. It is natural and of course we all dread it. I think you have to learn to cope with the process and be comfortable with it.

im still young...so never gave it a thought actually!but ya when i see my grandparents i do feel a kind of sympathy towards them..its really tough to deal with that age,but one has to live till one is destined...and if you have caring and suppotive children...passing your time gets easier for you,but chances seem to be less looking at the present scenario!

I am definitely not afraid of getting old but in fact enjoying every year with new experiences coming my way. The older the person becomes the wiser and mellower he will become and the other important thing i want to do is to not give troubles to others when i become old. But one i miss during my previous years is my childhood.

I do not worry about getting old. I have thought about how I would like to live my life, financially, or location, stuff like that. If I want assisted living, or in my own home, but no, worry? I have enough to worry about day to day without boggling my mind with it. I take each day as it comes. Who knows, I could be hit by lightening tonight, and all that worrying would have gone to naught.
