I was parked behind another car at an intersection with no traffic lights and the car in front wanted to make a left turn. The traffic in front of us was pretty well backed up so she could not see the lane she need to pull onto but it SEEMED to be clear. Now a car sitting opposite on the intersection waved (gave a hand signal) telling her to turn...so she did...and almost pulled out in front of another car. There was almost a bad accident. I would not have pulled out on some-one else's say so. What would you have done? (The kind person who waved her out must have been a sick idiot.)

i dont trust anyone every on the roads, i have seen too many accidents and just stupid drivers. i seem an accident because of this type of situation. it was nasty to say the least. i dont trust anyone on the roads, not even myself. anything could happen, pop a tire, lose control..your life can be over in a second.

It is hard to tell if the person waving has the intention to help or just plain sick (literally speaking). So it's best to evaluate possibilities before making hasty conclusions to avoid nasty consequences.

Hi
We do it another way here in the UK, we use the "flash" on the headlight stick to indicated to other drivers that it is OK to make a manouvre.
Having said that, even if someone "Flashes" me to give me the "right of way" of that the way ahead is clear, it is still wise to check!!
The other thing we have in UK is if a LARGE TRUCK is in front of you, and you cannot pass on the narrow country lanes we have here, sometimes the truck in front will put on his indicator to tell you that it is clear, but.... it is still wise to make a check before pulling out!

I won't do it and I have had that happen. The guy was upset I reckon because I didn't take his word for it, but his insurance would not be the one to have gone up if I got hit. If I can't see it with my own eyes, I don't do it.

No I would never go just because somebody waved me on. As a matter of fact, I have had people wave me on when I couldn't safely go. I've even seen them make gestures as if I was doing something wrong, when I didn't go. It really makes me annoyed.

People try to be too nice for their own good sometimes, the person waiving her on probably didn't even look for other cars and if she had an accident who he has stopped and said it was his fault or could he have been to blame for it, of course not, we should never take someone else's word for our own driving, when we do we cause major accidents that we are at fault for and have no one to blame but ourselves.

the person must be foolish man who waved her out or he might not be knowing about the situation of the other car's position. If he was not confident he would have not done this. Well it is petty for that kind of accident due to some one's other mistake.

I never go just because someone tells me, or waives me on. I have seen how that can be bad, the other person may not be paying as close attention to all of the traffic, and you may end up getting hurt, or worse, because someone wasn't watching. I don't trust other drivers that much anyways, certainly not enough to trust a complete stranger's judgement.

The person that waived might not have realize that the other car was there. I don't believe there is actually someone dumb enough to deliberately cause an accident just because they can. If someone waived me to go I would still look for oncoming traffic, no one can predict what another person is going to do, just the other day a car had his right turn signal on, but changed two lanes to the left to catch a exit.

I would never pull out because someone waved me on. If I can't see that it is clear I don't go. That is just a good way to get into a bad accident.
