Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went there?

Today I went into my kitchen at least 3-4 times and then had no idea why I had gone in there .. and I can blame the weather for that !
Hallo, you are thinking, she's gone bonkers hehe ... not really you see the weather does affect the severity of the Fibromyalgia Syndrome I suffer with .. and this last two days the weather here in the UK has gone from fairly warm for the time of year to a bone chilling near freezing .. and when the weather changes so much my fibro flares up ..
So today I have been in a constant muddle .. wondering why I am in the kitchen .. doing a few jobs while I am there .. coming back to sit down again only to remember I'd gone in the kitchen to make a coffee .. back I go and zapppooo ... I've flippin' forgotten again .. hahaha!!

I just suffer from CRS. I have a bad case of it. They only happen while I am awake. LOL

Oh yes! and there's me thinking it was just me, we are like two peas in a pod! Sometimes it's going upstairs to turn the hot water off, I go upstairs and then I forget what I was meant to do, I go back downstairs and then suddenly realized why I had gone upstairs in the first place. The main annoyance I have is that I spend aging dithering before going out whether I've got everything, I have to check at least three times I have my housekeys, wallet, pass and a book to read, then I will go to the toilet, come down again and I still have a nagging doubt that I have forgotten something, it's only when I've driven off that I suddenly remember something! Grrrr now you know why I don't go out often!

Yes I have many times, because I am often doing 2 or 3 things at once and my mind is always active, thinking all the time, I start something and get distracted then forget what I started doing in the first place....:(

So this discussion that you created will help you to remember next time. :)
I do it all the time. I get started doing things around the house racing from one room to the next putting things where they should be. Then I think about something that I will take care of in another room once I am finished putting up those items.
When I get to that room when I am finished in the other...I stop and stare...what the heck was I going to do? I just can't remember. Okay...I was doing this and taking that there. Then I was going to.....what? Dang! It will bother me until I do it.
So, off I am doing something else hoping that I will remember. And then I remember! Fine...but I am now doing this. I will do it once I am done. twenty minutes later...I am done and I walk into the other room...what was I going to do? Grrrrrr!!!!

yeah it keeps on happening all the time, mostly when you are engrossed in some work deeply, and you have to go to get something, so u get up and then in a moment u forget all about it, and whatever you do, u annot remember what you want, maybe the mind goes out of free space and deletes some data so it can function again(just kiddin) like a computer.......

I reckon everytime I go to the shop, there is always 1 thing that I have forgotten to grab. If I send my husband to the shop to pick up 1 thing he usually forgets to get that and comes back home with about 10 other items that we didn't need.

same here, it always happens to me.
Sometimes I entered the kitchen and stopped, thinking "why did i come here the first place" or "did i came here to get something?". then i get all confused.
maybe it's somewhere in the genes.. haha..

It happens to me when I have lots of things on my mind or I'm trying to do too many things at the same time.

Always! I have Fibro, Chronic Fatigue and Hypoglycemia, and I hate when this happens. I also forget questions asked and seem to go around in circles to finally answer the question after I asked over 3 times, "What was the question again?"
It's good though..sometimes I'm able to laugh at myself, but lately it's been bugging me.

Actually, this is not that unusual of an occurence, fibromyalgia or not. I used to work in the office of a printing plant. Frequently people would stand and start to walk towards the art or press areas, stop, look around, grin sheepishly, and walk back to their desks. A few minutes later, they'd stand again and head off in the original direction. I think it's caused by doing several things at once and not really concentrating on one goal. Now, having stated that, i also have fibromyalgia and have found that the problem does worsen on bad days. Today is a very bad day. I repeat to myself several times what I'm intending to do before I set out to do it. So far, I've successfully done the dishes, put away the groceries, and taken out the trash (regular and various recycling, all correctly separated and placed in the correct containers). On days like this I try not to engage anyone in regular conversation, I hate it when I lose my thought in the middle of a sentence. Fortunately, email and other online forms of written communication are available. I can go back and read what I've written and then continue, provided I can reconstruct the thought process. I try to challenge myself on days like this, mostly by reading and then going over what I've read to see how many details I've retained. My mother also has fibromyalgia. She was diagnosed with it a long time ago. She now has dementia as well. It has been very sad to watch her deterioration. I hope that by constantly working on my memory I won't experience the problem to the degree that she has.

Far too often although I have the same excuse as you (that and depression) plus the fact I inevitably see something that DD has left lying round or stop to make a fuss of DD or one of the rodents. I hate it when my head goes fuzzy though.

yes...i do that constantly! i'll forget why i have a pen in my hand, or i'll forget why i got a glass of water, because i don't even feel thirsty! i'll forget what i was going to say IN THE MIDDLE OF SAYING IT! hahahaha...i forget why i go into rooms, i'll forget why i picked up my phone because i don't remember who i wanted to call.
the funniest thing is that when i was younger i had a great memory. i guess it must be old age... ;)

I happen only if I am busy working or thinking about new ideas. I don't like to do paper work. If I have to do my taxes or bills I start acting like this. I can walk in and out the room many times looking for papers I can't find and find an excuse not to do papers at all. :)

Yeah, it is really true, sometimes I will go into a place (a room) and forgot what I want to do there, but what normally courses it as for me is that, when I am thinking and about to make response to my thinking (i.e. trying to find solution to my thought), if the solution is not whorthy, I will find it difficulty to make the solution because immediately I want to make use of a tool, I will forget about it and after sometimes I will notice that I am doing another thing, and it will continue until I made up my mind.
But I don't think is the weather that is doing that for you but if it is the weather, may be you are thinking that the world is about to perish.
