My steak has to be extra well done. I don't want to see any pink meat or blood running out. I am like you and don't understand why people would want to eat raw meat and play games with their lives.

never understandwhat? that somepeople actually like to tasteteh foods they are eating, overcooking meat dulls the flavour, and toughens themeat. i prefer my beef medium rare to medium simply because i like tender meat, and like to taste what I;m eating.

I personally like my steaks done medium well. If it looks like it is going to moo, I can't eat it and I can't stand if it is like shoe leather, so medium-well for me.

I think this topic comes up so often. It must be the most popular discussion ever. Does that mean that all we ever do is think of food? LOL! I started this, SKSouth started it, and God only knows who else started it.
Anyway, I love to chase my steak around the plate. I think there's nothing as good as a rare steak. I'm only short of building little fences with the carrots to keep the thing on my plate.

I have the same tastes regarding meat. I prefer it well done. I hate to see blood on meat. If I see blood, its a complete turn off for me and I would not eat it.

i like it well done...meat products usually contains harmfull bacterias which may cause food poisoning...hence when well cooked it kills the bacteria...

I prefer rare. To me it is more tender, more juicy. It has a lot more taste. I have tried it well done, but it was too tough. It took too long to chew. I like it rare, nice and juicy, just a few minutes on each side. The restaurants in the States stopped serving rare beef. That was a real shame. After they tolme me that, I stopped eating beef unless I cooked it myself.

I used to be just like you....only well done. There has been times when we would go out to eat and I would have to send my steak back 2 or 3 times before they would get it right.I will still not eat rare or medium rare....but medium well is good.On medium well the center has to be warm but still a little pink.....but the juice from the meat actually runs clear....meaning there is no uncooked blood left.
A lot of people gon't realize that no matter how well done you cook the meat....ther will be blood left in it....we just asociate the red color with it....if the juice runs clear...we just faked our selfs out.Funny how we can do things like that....guess that's part of being human.

I prefer mine rare to medium rare. I like it warm through out and not raw but I do like it red. To me it just tastes a lot better and for the most part it isn't dried out. Yes you can do well done that isn't but far too often most don't know how to.

I like my steak well done. I don't like the idea of the piece of meat I'm eating bleeding all over my plate. I never have. It's almost enough to make me gag. Rare is just disgusting. I've never really been a big fan of steak in the first place but if I have to eat it, well done is the way to go for me.
My other half enjoys his steak with a bit of pink on the inside. He's told me he's tried rare and once he got a blue rare steak (that means the inner part is still raw) and he doesn't like his steak made that way anymore. He was actually pretty disgusted at the blue rare steak. He will rarely touch a rare steak now and prefers his steaks medium rare with just a bit of pink inside. I think he's nuts for eating it that way but when I cook it well done, he doesn't have a problem with it.
I don't understand people who like their steaks rare. It makes me cringe that people actually eat meat that undercooked. There's the other problem right there. What kinds of diseases or how sick could someone get from having their steak undercooked? That's another reason why if I have to eat steak I order it to be well done. I would rather not have to worry that I'm going to get sick from eating when I go out to eat.
In conclusion, I think it's better to have steak well done. At least in my opinion.. That way you at least don't have to worry about getting sick or having your gag reflex kick in.

Depends on how far you know the source of the meat and how confident are you in terms of handling the meat. If I am sure that the meat 100% fresh, I can go with rare to medium. The flavor is still intact, juicy and tender. Overcooked meat tends to be tough. See those strands of meat that get stucked inbetween your teeh? that is overcooked meat. You lost the real flavor of the meat when overcooked.
On the otherhand, if I'm not confident of the source of the meat,I mean, if health issue would be a concern. I would go for well done if I have no choice, if I am new to a restaurant and doesnt know where the meat came from. I can sacrifice the taste of the meat just to make sure that microbes are not alive.
By the way, in France, it is like a crime to eat a well done meat. Hence, they have the best meat. I even like steak tartare if I'm in France, but I won't eat steak tartare here in India or unless I get the meat straight from the butcher's shop.
