Yes... I just got up out of my bed and it's snowing, here, in the south of England. Not only is it snowing... it's snowing hard!
We don't get snow here very often at all, and with the past few weeks having been mild, wet and windy, I hardly expected it today, although it was forecast in the east of the country. Everywhere is white, and beautiful at the moment because not too many people are out and about yet. It looks as though just one car has been down the street.
I had to go to the back of the house and look out on the garden and field, as well... just a blanket of white, even the top of the bird table roof stands out. What a beautiful scene.
I'm sorry I got so excited but we haven't seen proper snow in about ten years. We've had the occasional year when we had a shower, and next minute it as gone, but this is a treat for me... I love the snow.
How many of you enjoy the snow and what do you like about it?

Your post made me smile - as that was pretty much my exact reaction when I got up this morning too - I live in the South of England as well! I am a big kid when it comes to snow - I adore it. I sat there drinking my tea and eating my breakfast this morning - and laughed to see my two youngest cats playing in the snow - rolling about in it and loving every minute of it. If they could have laughed they would have!! Sadly it's thawing already though :-((

Hi Rosie! Yes, it thawed quite a bit by the afternoon, but there was a little left on rooftops and the edges of the grass, etc, but last night was very clear, with a bright crescent moon and stars, and very cold. It's no warmer this morning and we are getting snow showers with sunny periods.
The cats probably wondered what the snow was... I'll bet they were funny and I wouldn't mind betting they were laughing in their own way. I sat and ate my breakfast watching the schoolkids out front, waiting for the bus and having snowball fights. They loved it too.
Where are you in the south... which county? I'm in West Sussex, 14 miles north of Brighton. I'd be interested to know where you are.
Thank you for your descriptive response... have a great day!

LOL I was just talking about this with my friend in London. I heard you guys got the winds that were here in the Pacific Northwest (United States) not too long ago and now you're getting our snow! hahaha I wasn't here for the winds, but I was for the snow, and lemme tell you, I was WAY excited about it and took TONS of pics! It was my first REAL snowfall. I've been in the snow before, but that was something I always had to travel to and never really experienced some real snowfall. So, I understand your excitement.:) Here's one of my favorite pics I took of our snow.

Ahh... the savings aren't going at all. :( Need to find a job and that doesn't seem to be going all too well. *sigh* Thanks for your kind wishes. :) I do hope I make it there someday, too. The sooner, the better!

Yes, Poison. It always seems that we get the tail end of the USA weather. We get gale force winds, two to three weeks after Florida's hurricanes, and often, when it snows a lot out there, we get that too. It's never quite so extreme when it reaches here, but that certainly seems to be how the pattern works.
How are your savings going towards a trip to England??? I do hope you manage to get here some day.
Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings to you. :-)

Awwwwwww... I think it was spreading to most of the country, Gabs. Do you still not have any? I love the snow but I'm not so keen when it's cold indoors, or indeed, when it turns slushy.
We didn't get the amount we were forecast last night, but it's snowing a little today. I'll get the fan out and blow it in your direction. he he he

Yes, for some reason, Minxy, I was up at ten to five! lol. I didn't want to go back to bed when I saw how hard it was snowing and the white blanket spreading itself on the ground.
But then, I'm in the countryside of West Sussex. It must be even nicer to see snow in London... so refreshing. The birds seemed to like it too... there was a lot of twittering going on! lol.
I hope you're feeling much better and brighter now. Thank you for your response, my friend. Brightest Blessings to you. x

I am from the Philippines but was blessed to have lived for a year in Richmond, BC, Canada and Thurnby, Leicester.
I remember my first (and last) sledging experience in January 1997. It was on a hill near the local pub in Thurnby. I really didn't want to do it but my foster parent encouraged me. So down I went, and I literally went sideways, off the sledge, scraped my face on ice, broke my eyeglasses, and still got up smiling. Wasnt the greatest experience but it was fun to look back on. I miss my friends there.

LOL. It's good you can look back on that experience with humour. 1997 was the last time we had snow here, in the south, and I think it was fairly widespread across the country, but as always, you had more in the north.
Thank you for your response Mlylumad, and Brightest Blessings to you.

Me too love the snow its one of the natures beauty but we rarely have snow in the place i live , i am moving to uk next yr to live with my brother may be then i can experience the beauty of nature i always dream of
@Darkwing (21583)

I guess it depends on where in the UK you're moving to. If in the north east, or east, then very probably you'll experience some snow, but definitely, you'll experience the beauty of nature in this country, and a great deal of historic nature.
I hope you have a good move and really enjoy your new life in the UK. Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings, Lamecrusher.

Well, I'm from Romania and here it snows every year.
But this year, the snow seems to be a luxury...It only snowed once (except for the mountains) and the snow reached about 5 cm...
I don't miss the dirt following the snow nor the cold, but I must admit I kinda miss the white cover of snow...
@Darkwing (21583)

Yes, when you're used to getting it each year, I would think you must miss it when it doesn't arrive, but as I said to the previous person from Romania, you'll surely get some soon. I hope so, anyway... perhaps in February.
Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings.

It could surprise you yet, Chilling! Our winter to now, has been very warm and wet, but it suddenly changed, and gave us our first real snow in ten years, in the South of England.
I hope you get some, anyway. I think you'd really enjoy it. I've got my fingers crossed for you.
Have a good day, thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings.

WoW! Thats awesome. Even though its beautiful Its a wake up call. All the strange weather patters happening around the world are caused by Global Warming. This is a trend that is only goin to get worse and stranger weather patterns are going to occur.

Or so they tell us! The seasons have changed a bit but they're not so different to what they were, I don't think. I've been around a few years, and the current weather seems to go in patterns; remember the Ice Age?
Anyway, I'm going to enjoy what we have, when we have it. I doubt I'll be around if and when global warming becomes a real problem.
Thank you for your response and Brightes Blessins to you.

Wow, you guys must have stolen our snow. We almost always have some by this time but it's been too warm here to snow much this year. We'll probably get some in Feb. or march or if you give it back (just Kidding)...I like snow too. Enjoy your's while it's there. It never seems to last as long here as it did when I was a kid.

No, it's nothing like it was when I was a kid, either. I miss all that, and the kids of today are missing out on so much fun. My little grandson was so excited yesterday when he saw the snow.
I'm reluctant to give it back, as you say, because we don't get much of it, and you never sent me any of yours!!! ha ha ha ha ha.
I hope you get some snow soon, as you seem to like it, and I hate mild winters myself, especially when it's cloudy, raining or dull.
Thank you for your humorous response Irish.. have a great day, and Brightest Blessings.

i love the snow!!!!! winter is my fave season! i have been pretty sad this year, not much has fallen for my area. i had such high hopes after everytime colorado got that huge snows. i was like YES!!! we get tons of snow! no school! wahoo! but no, sadly it was just lots and lots and lots of rain. :( very sad. well this past few days we actually got a good inch and a half.
i love playing in it, i love snowmobiling. its so fun. and when it snows, i love to walk through my woods as it comes tumbling through the bare branches. peaceful. love it. its so great. i like at night when there is a full moon how moonbeams just glisten against the snow. i can see so far and so clearly when that happens. absolutly beautiful.

Thank you Wolf, for such a wonderful response. Colorado is indeed a beautiful place... I hope to get there some day. I can just imagine you walking through the woods and the moonbeams lighting up the whole, snowy area. It sounds gorgeous. I think you must be a great nature lover, like myself.
I wish you lots more snow, even if it does mean you being off school, lol. Thank you for your contribution to my discussion and Brightest Blessings to you! :-)

Hi HalfFledgedWings! What a wonderful, positive thought. Yes, do travel and see the different seasons, Winter and Autumn especially should interest you. Europe would be a good place for you to travel to.
Thank you for your response and have a good day, and indeed a good life, travelling! Brightest Blessings.

Yes, it looks the winter begins in Europe at last. It was snowing in DE, CH, CZ, SK and in hungary too today, but not in South Hungary where I live. But I do not wait for it. I wait for the SPRING!!!
I hate my wintercoat, I can not even move in it.. :)
My son waits for the snow very much, because he wants to sledge.
If I should say some nice about the snowing. I like when it fresh. And I like that the snow that covers everything, covers the sreet noise too.

Yes, I agree Dolcerina. When the snow is fresh and untrodden, it's so pretty, and it muffles all the general sounds, apart from the joyful, laughing voices of the children playing in it. I love that sound.
I too look forward to Spring, but I love each and every season for their own characteristics. Having snow seems to cheer the dull of winter. It brightens the dreariness of the season and cheers us up ready for our journey into Spring. Soon, all the leaves will be budding on the trees and wildlife will begin to awaken again in expectancy of a warm, new Spring.
Thank you for your response, and Brightest Blessings for 2007.

Yes, your weather sounds similar, Ucoksbaba, but I doubt we get anywhere near the heat you do in Summer.
So, you think 2007 might be the start of something big, huh? I wonder what that might be? I hope it's going to be good!

Hi Bsabers! I would guess by your avatar and the fact that you have so much snow, you're in the States somewhere?
I believe there has been an excess of snow out there this year, with some States being closed off because of it. Wonderful! lol.
I hope you enjoy your snow as I did mine! Thank you for your response and have a great day!

Yes, it's very cold and clear here today, and was last night, Megan. There was a bright crescent moon and stars in the sky last night, so it froze hard. Today, we're have light snow showers with sunny periods... the sunny periods being longer than the snow showers. lol.
I'm sure you'll get some snow soon... usually, in Yorkshire, they say that if it doesn't snow by late November, it will be there by February, so you'll have to wrap up your blue-blooded body and go trudge some snow. Wonderful thought! :-)
Thank you for your response, and have a great day!

Snow is fantastic, only not for the cities (cars stuck and stuff). But it's fun and it makes the world different. It's weird that it is snowing in the south of England or even in places in the USA where it usually never snows! I would say, I hope you like it, cause I would! :)

So much for global warming, huh? lol.
Cars get stuck down here in the countryside too. There's a narrow road across the south downs between Ditchling and Brighton, which mounts to Ditchling Beacon, then runs straight across the top of the hills. Often drivers don't realise that it's colder up there, and the snow gets piled up pretty high, but once up there, they can't turn around and come back, so they edge on, and get stuck in two to three feet of snow, in the middle of nowhere. It happens every time!!! lol.
Thank you for your response... yes I love the snow when it's not wet and yucky. Brightest Blessings.

I really like the snow, everything looks really cool when it's covered in snow, great or photos. Also I used to go out to work very early in the morning when it was still dark, but when there was snow on the ground everything was much brighter and made me feel much better whe walking to work.
Unfortunatey we haven't had any snow where I am yet, it was trying it's hardest the other day but not enought came down to make a layer. I'm hoping that we ill see a layer soon though.

Hi Deadleaf! I guess you're in the west of the country somewhere.. am I right?
I'm kind of in the centre of the south, so we don't get snow very often. That's why I was so excited. We haven't had proper snow for about ten years! They get it in the east of the country and the north-east, year after year, but we seem to be sheltered here.
Oh well.. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. You'll probably get some sooner or later.. Easter, I wouldn't wonder! lol.
Thank you for your response. Have a great day!
