I like both actually but what gets me is even buying new you could be buying used. I know several stores now make it very convenient for patrons to take a book off the shelf and then sit down and read it right there when they are finished they then put it back. To me that is the same as used. Also I was told by a Waldens Book store employee they are allowed to "borrow" any book on the shelves. They take it home, read it and then bring it back to put back on the shelves. So when I can I try to buy used since the prices reflect the used aspect unlike with some.

I do, i often go to the used bookstores first, especially for university books for my course which can be very expensive if i buy the brand new. As well as this, there is a kind of charm about used bookstores, they give you chance to explore such subjects that you might never have ddone before, the last time i went to my local used book store, i bought myself some old geology books, to help me with my studies, but there were others which i could have bopught as well.

I love used bookstores. They're cheap and frequently have that odd book I was looking for which a traditional bookstore might not. However, if you want the latest thing go to the retail bookstore. Each has it's own purpose.

i like both.
i mean when the cost of the book is too high and the need is for small duration of time then i prefer old books store and i purchase old ones.
if the cost involved is very low then it doesn't make too much diff in the prices so i prefer to go for a new one.
also if i have to use it over a longer duration or if the contents have changed in these years then i go for the new ones.

There are some books we must buy right away, so we go buy them new because they are must buys which one may not find in the used books shop. Otherwise, it is wiser to buy from secondhand stores. I often go to used bookstores to see if they have something to offer which I will find useful. Upon getting hold of one, I always purchase it considering how much I've saved through this transaction.
Let us not forget though, that there some persons who never wants anything previously used/owned by somebody else in their possession. They always buy them new.
