Have a throbbing head or an aching back?here is one possible prescription:take two Mozart movements-or a big dose of pop, country or jazz,if you prefer-and call the doctor in the morning. decades of studies, including one published recently, suggest that music might be a moderately effective pain reliever.at some hospitals, music therapists are on call to help patients through painful procedures, when medications fail, some even sing patients to sleep....

I've tried this and it does help to a certain degree. Not for migraines, but when my back aches I do enjoy soothing music rather than a blaring TV. If I fall asleep, then it definately helps!

Yes, I've done it many times. Sometimes I do get headaches caused by fatigue and too much thinking. I will play some classical music, sit down and relax while having a cup of tea of a glass of juice, after a while the pain is gone. I agree that this is an effective pain reliever.

I never tried music therapy before. But I heard of it before. Music is able to calm out heart down. I totally agree that music be used to be a pain reliever. As for me, music makes me fall asleep easier. When I cant sleep at night, I will most probably listen to some soft music and it makes me being able to sleep more soundly.

I do this when I need to think but my body is not cooperating. I listen to classic and modern pieces of orchestra, violin and cello pieces. After a piece or two, my focus becomes clearer.

I think it helps in many cases. It especially helps me to relax so if the pain is caused in part by stress or tension, as many aches and pains are, then it should help with the pain.
