bank charges get you down?

i swapped banks a few months back thinking i was getting a better deal and facilities.
i have never known bank charges like it in my life!
i know you should not go overdrawn on some accounts (although some banks give you a few pounds leeway) but it is the way they change your payments around. i was perfectly within my limit a few weeks back and forgot about my regular end of month charges which came off about 3 days later, and knew this would take me over my limit but do not charge you for this.
what happened? they put the charges first (even though they came off 3 days later) and charged me £38.00 for each card transaction even though i was within my limit at that time!!
gets you so mad.
your views please!

thanks for that useful information scarydog.
these banks must be making a fortune eh?
if you can get your £3000 back that will be a result.
is that how much charges you have had againstyou in the past?
thats alot of money.
hope you are successful with this.

It was only about 6 months ago that it was found to be unlawful for banks to charge the fees that they do... the MOST it was found a bank could charge legally was £4.50!! says a lot when you get a £35 charge for a cheque/direct debit that has failed.... and you can claim back upto 6 years of charges... surprising how much you've paid them over the years... and not one bank has actually gone as far as court...

Hi monkeynuts, I think the banks have got a flaming cheek when all it costs them is at tops £4.50. I'm going to find out my bank statement, cause I reckon they must owe me a blimmin fortune by now!
