Well, a woman who went into labor in a store called "John Lewis" in the UK decided to name her child after the store. Of course, this wouldn't work as well if you went into labor in some of the stores we have around here, like Wal-Mart and Target *laugh* ^_~ But would you ever consider naming your child after the place where you went into labor? Or perhaps the place where the child was conceived?
If you have any good stories of things like the above, please feel free to share. Also feel free to share your thoughts on the news story. You can read the rest of it here:

You know, I would take that as they just didn't have a name picked out yet. ha ha
I would hate to think that she may have gone into labor at Babies R Us...poor kid, he would be teased for the rest of his life! ha ha
I named my son after some yarn my mother was using to crochet a blanket for him.
I just kept staring at that name across the yarn my entire pregnancy and finally decided that Jamie would be a good name. ha ha

hahahha i think there is a trend to name babies after the place where they were conceived, following on from the rich and famous. Broklyn Beckham is an example of this. iMAGINE THE SCENE, jON lEWIS, Shop window, McDonnalds toilets, hanging out of a car window going down the M6, where does it stop? ohhhhh what a wonderful life

At least John and Lewis are names that you can call a child. It could have been "Poundland" or even worse "Wal-Mart"
What about David and Victoria Beckham's first child Brooklyn, reportedly named for where he was conceived. Good thing it wasn't in Peckham!

I might would do this. I think some people name their kids after pharmaceuticals. LOL I swear I heard of kids named Tylenol, Afrin, Aspirin, but they always call them something a little different than the way it is spelled. I have friend who named her child Macy because she loved shopping at Macy's. Now a name like Dollar Tree or Dollar General wouldn't go so well. LOL

This was a unique way to chose a name for the child, that's for sure. At least they were in a store with a decent name. Actually, the name John Lewis is nice! However, don't most, if not all, people have names picked out before the child is born? If not picked out, they have it narrowed down to 2 girls names and 2 boys names. That has been my experience with friends and family who have been expecting.

My cousin did that... she named her son after a store that she knew of named The Phoenix. She chose Phoenix as his middle name but that is the name that he is called.
The store name from that article is pretty normal names so in my opinion that's not so bad to name your baby those names.

Neah, I wouldn't name my baby after a store. Or after any place where the child was conceived. I think I am more creative than that to name me own baby. lol
I don't like common names, so I will try to find a unique name (but definetely not a store or a place name) then name it after my baby.
My baby name suppose to make her famous or exists; not the store or place mark my baby's existence.

That is crucking me up :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)!!! I wouldn't do that...My opinion that is very stupid!!! Why don't we start naming out kids after ancient Americas rulers then??? Like Montezuma or Totethuaga???

My husband's first and middle names are Robert, and Louis respectively. His mother was reading "Kidnapped" by Robert Lous Stevenson when he was born. The family enjoys telling this about him. He is an avid reader, too. LOL

I don't think that I would ever name my child by a store name, or where they were conceived! I think that is silly.
Especially if it was Target, or WalMart! That would be funny though! But, torture for the child!! Haha! :DD

John Lewis isn't a horrible name ... but my wife insists that we name the next 3 children that we're going to have already and we're not planning on getting pregnant again for several years. She's pretty obsessed with naming children and if we don't have names picked out right away it drives her crazy.
Oh, I really hope that she had a son! I don't know about a girl named John Lewis!!!

I surpose it really depends on what the shop is.
John Lewis is ok but i bet he will be teased in school... parents never think of that do they?
Could you imagin a baby called 'Tesco' 'Wimpy' or even 'Boots' poor kids would never live it down!
So No I dont think its a very good idea.
