My cat has cataracts

The vet said my cat has cataracts. This is not a pun. He said the reason she hesitates before jumping into a lap, sometimes walking around a few steps and looking from a different angle and still missing is that she is seeing as if through a Coke bottle. Every time I've looked at her face lately I've thought, "She's looking through a Coke bottle." What can be done besides avoiding rearranging the furniture?

I had a little dog many years ago that developed cataracts. I had to have cataract surgery done for her. At the time it wasn't extremely expensive-around $300- and I was able to make payments on the surgery. I don't know if re-arranging the furniture would help at all or make it worst since your cat is used to where the furniture is now. Did your vet recommend anything that would help so your cat could see clearer?

Thanks. No, he didn't recommend anything. He said she seems to be adjusting to it, but several people have asked if surgery is an option.

Glad to hear that your cat is adjusting somewhat. If I hear of any options besides surgery for cataracts I will gladly keep you posted. Sorry about that confusion with my previous reply--I didn't type some of that stuff where it has discussion and the numbers--I honestly do not have any idea where that came from.
