So talking in the various Goth threads just got me to thinking about fashion.....I knwo that alot of ppl (women in particular I find) tend to follow current trends or even just stick with one "style" of dress be it preppy, hippy/boho, goth, career etc etc etc....and I was wondering what ppl here dress like...do you stick to a certain "style"? Do you follow and keep up with current trends? I personally follow nothing in particular other than my mood (and budget LOL)....some days I feel like wearing a more gothy style clothes other days its Punk..and then there are the days I feel like wearing a classic pinup-girl style outfit or something comfy and relaxing like yoga pants and a tee shirt.other days I feel like wearing a classic victorian style dress and so on....Trends really do nothing for me and one "style" doesnt suit me becasue I am a rainbow of colour and moods if that makes sense...I think the only thing I really stick with is the heel height of my shoes...I'm a 4 1/2" - 5" heel kind of gal, its either that or flat and nothing in between but the styles vary from wedge to spike to chunky.... what about you? and how important is it for you to be current or trendy or at the other end for you to be original and walk to the beat of your own drum? For me, walking to my own drum is very important...I dont care for thinking, being, acting, dressing etc like anyone else simply because I'm not them ya know....my entire life from how I dress to my marriage and parenting style to how I think and process things is very much off the beaten path I guess you could say..

I like to wear jean and jacket and I prefer to buy classical branded clothes instead of latest trend if the price fits my budget. My style just is simple.:)

I...am a Lolita. No, I'm not some creepy little girl with a Humbert Humbert complex. I follow the Japanese fashion movement, Elegant Gothic Lolita. I enjoy dressing up and wearing frills...but, since I AM a college student, I can still be seen wearing jeans and a sweatshirt to class when I woke up too late to get dolled up. XD; More information about EGL can be found here-- http://avantgauche.co.uk

LAtely I mostly wear my clothes for work...usually a dress (I try to keep it as gothy as possible) or capris and an interesting top. When I go to class it's usually jeans, a t-shirt, my navy jacket and mary janes. I just don't have time between working 40 hours a week, 13 credit hours of school, volunteering at the museum, going to the gym, and entertaining my fiance to put on the makeup, accessories, and outfits I used to be into. I used to be into a combination of goth/punk/cyber/industrial/raver clothes. Too much work now. And with my job I can't have ultraviolet hair anymore... or blue.... or pink :(

I like to create my own style, I'll mix and match colors and brands. I like to switch it up and be creative I'll try throwing on a hoody with a tie some shades and nikes. I like to throw people off and surprise the world. I make statements with the way I dress.

I never really tried those overboard fashion. When it comes to fashion, I think what feels good looks good. The only accessory I have on is a wooden bracelet and a watch. I don't even wear necklaces. =)

I am very much like you. I am not really into the styles but if I see something I like that is stylist and fits the budget. Then great! But I am not buying the item or wearing it because it is what in style. I wear it because that is what suits me that day. The last place I worked at, the people always like to see what I would wear each day because they never knew what to expect with me. There was this one lady that would come to see what mood I was in for the day. One person labeled me a Goth but I did not see me as that and nor did many other people. As I was then labeled as being eclectic. ha ha The lady that would come to see me each day just to see what my mood was each day would tell me that she liked it when I dressed looking like a fairy. ha ha I didn't see me as dressing like that but I guess if one looks tiny and whimsical, one could be seen as fairy-like. ha ha

My fashion style is mostly vintage and vintage reproductions from the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. I wear a lot of "pin-up" style dresses and clothing. If I buy stuff that is not vintage, it is usually styled after vintage things. My favorite store is H&M, and they sell some more modern looking clothes but also a lot of vintage-looking things! I also like anything that looks really spunky!

I couldn't be without my denims, I have them as blue jeans, all colors with or without patterns on them. I love mixing and matching casual clothes for every day but for special occasions I prefer to be be elegant rather to than towear what is the current style.

I don't really pay attention to the styles. Or fashion trends. Which I think is good..have you seen some of the crap teens my age wear? Lol. Shirts that look like they should be dresses for three year olds and things like that..sheesh. I dunno..I have a tendency to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Hm. Actually that's a pretty accurate consensus for most of my wardrobe lol. I have some sweatpants, capri's. Or flood pants as my Mom likes to call 'em. I don't own that many skirts, and own zero dresses lol. It'd kinda have to be a really pretty dress or skirt for me to be tempted to wear it..something from the Victorian era I'd do heh. I wear sneakers, and leather boots most of the time..or just go barefoot, where I'm allowed to. I think the only high heels I own are these pretty lace up boots which go up to my knees, which look like they're from the seventeenth, eighteenth century but they're not, the heels are spiked an' pretty high..and I adore them, but they're killer on my feet. Colors wise I tend to lean heavily toward darker ones, lots of blacks and dark blues. The brightest things I have are probably my tie-die shirts..which are pretty much the only bright colored things I have a weakness for lol. Anything much brighter thought kinda hurts my eyes. I don't care so much about dressing like anyone else as much as what I wear will be practical..or else something I like at least. Loads in fashion today aren't practical..which I guess is the reason I don't care for it heh.

Yea i have to admit that some of the teen "styles" today are a tad over the top...in some cases REALLY over the top...hell I knew hookers back in the day that wore more clothes than some teen girls today....its nuts..

I like to keep it simple and plain. Branded clothes are the best options. I prefer not to wear loud colors or bold prints. The classic white shirts is one of my favourite piece of clothing in my wardrobe. Its amazing how many different looks you can invent by just wearing the right accessories. Chunk jewellery can make the right boho impression. Simple stripes are the best for the office. Happy dressing.

LOL... the kindest way to describe my style would be "who cares?" As long as it's clean and covers the required areas, I'm good to go! I've been in this phase for a couple of years now. Previously, I suppose I was a sporty dy*ke with a slighly post-punk flavor, and occasional dips into the preppy side of the closet. Seems like another lifetime, though!

Trends don't really have any effect on me. I wear what I want when I want. Some days it all about comfort w/ stretch pants and a t-shirt or hockey jersey. Some days I dress very goth (with punk tendencies). Other days I dress in what a friend of mine once referred to as "preppy casual."

Hi, I've always dressed to please myself and to 'shock' others specially in my youth! I like to dress from day to day in stuff I feel comfortable in. As long as it's black it doesn't matter. Although I have been wearing quite abit of beige recently - I put it down to my age! I must agree with you on shoes, most of them are extremely high or flat with nothing inbetween. It's good to choose your own way of dressing and it's far too expensive to follow trends (not that I would anyway!) It shows your individualism!
