A gift from the heart, something that only has meaning to your mother like an old picture blown up to bring back memories of the younger good years. You know what I mean something you can't buy but something you mother will always use or look at. My mother loves my little personal ideas I come up with. Don't get me wrong Ill buy her what ever she wants but her face is truly happy when I have done something unique for her.

I think you can give her clothes of the colors of her choice or a nice purse, perfume along with some beautiful wordings about a mother, she would appreciate that, mothers like to know that they are praised and acknowleged for what they do, they feel nice so while buying gifts keep that in mind and buy.

If you can, the best thing you can do is spend time with her. Take her for dinner, or go to her house and cook for her. If you can't do that - I'd send a framed picture of the two of you together, or something personal like that. Or write a corny poem - she'll love it.

I am a mom but, the problem is, I am not very keen on material things. I love having my kids around, hugging and kissing me and telling me how much they love me. Then we share ideas and talk endlessly. Happiness is the best gift there is to offer.
Something to add up to this for mom? As for your mom, think. You must have observed what interests her most. Buy her something akin to her interests or things she considers precious and important. There is not one specific thing I can tell you because we are not personal friends.
