Do you enjoy blond jokes? Do they turn you off? Do you think people are able to realize it is just a joke or do the blond jokes contribute to stereotyping?

I'm a natural blond and I enjoy blond jokes. I don't take offense to them because I know the hitory behind the "stereotype". But you're right that we never realize how these jokes are perceived by others. It was amazing to me to read posts by people in this forum who came from countries where no one is blond; they just couldn't understand our humor. There was even somebody today asking what seemed like a legitimate question as to how hair color determines intelligence. Interesting discussion!

a blond joke is just a blond joke. My opinion is that is someone gets offended over it, then OH WELL! It does NOT contribute to stereotyping...it's a joke! To me, they are not offensive. I am a blond--sortof--a dirty blonde and I have no problem. I listen to and tell them all the time! LOL A police officer pulls over a blond driver for speeding and asks her very nicely for her license. The woman replies in a huff, "I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yestreday you take away my license and today you expect me to show it to you!"

Depending on where you happen to be at the time, someone is bound to be the butt of a joke, be it blonds, women, men, pollocks, portugese, or whatever. If I got offended at every joke that poked fun of one of them, I would be offended all the time. I am blond, male, Polish, Russian, Irish, English, Scots, Yugoslavian, and who knows what else. I guess you could call me more American than a lot of other ethnic groups. I don't get upset because what purpose would it serve? None, I think. And as for stereotyping, not likely.

Yeah, I agree fin, one must realize that a joke is a joke and not actually meant to degrade a particular group of people. However, there will always be those that scream 'offended.' Surely people don't stereotype that easily?!! I do draw the like with the Hellen Keller jokes. I just can't see humor at the expense of a handicapped person.

Well, blond jokes are probably not any more harmful than any other type of joke that stereotypes a certain type of people. You either kind of have to want to ban all of those kinds of jokes, or put up with all of them, even if you feel that they target something about you. I really can't talk that much on this issue since I'm not blond, and I do sometimes wonder why in the world we as a society like to pick on blonds and point them out like they're all airheaded, when that obviously isn't the truth at all! ^_^ But I don't see any real harm in the jokes, although if they seriously offend anyone then I feel really bad about that :( :(

I am a blonde but do not take it personally . There are enough intelligent blondes in this world to level out the playing field. For example me and .... Screen chameleon Renée Zellweger's ability to change her appearance and accent with every role means she is certainly deserving of her Oscar, BAFTA and three Golden Globes Hillary Clinton is certainly no slouch in the career stakes. A graduate of Yale Law School, she became a United States Senator in 2000, the only First Lady ever elected to the Senate. She has also written five books, brought up her daughter etc Although a motorcycle accident lost Heather Mills McCartney her leg, she has always refused to play the victim, deciding instead to help others around the globe who have lost limbs as patron of Adopt-A-Minefield Despite the fact Yale graduate Jodie Foster never took acting lessons, she received two Oscars before she was 30 years of age. Fluent in French, she also uses her own voice in all of the French versions of any of her movies Beauty guru Liz Earle launched her own skincare range, Naturally Active Skincare, which uses natural ingredients and filled a void in an otherwise saturated market. With four children, a fast-growing business and a series of health and beauty books, Liz is truly a glow-getter! Founder of nail bar Nails Inc, Thea Callan spotted a gap in the market after spending time in New York. She opened her first store in London in 1999 and now she has 28 Nails Incs nationwide Lets not forget Harvard graduate Reese Witherspoon Our Favorite, Barbra Walters. And so the list goes on

I am a blonde so you would think that I wouldn't like them but I don't mind them. I actually think they are pretty funny. Unfortunately however I do think they do contribute to stereotyping. People automatically see a pretty blonde girl and think she's a ditz. I know this from comments I hear people make about other people. It is very annoying. But I do love the jokes, as long as they aren't directed at me or any other intelligent person.

I don't get turned off by blond jokes at all. They're just jokes after all. (I'm part Polish and I find Polish jokes hysterical; The rest of me is German descent, I don't have problems with German stereotype jokes, or even being called a strudel head, lol) I think people have gotten so far over sensitive over jokes that are not really meant to harm anybody. When we stop laughing and poking fun at ourselves, that's a shame. I like redneck jokes. (Am I a redneck...uh, probably in a lot of ways, lol.) I never take offense to any of those jokes, I think they're funny. Any joke that is mean spirited isn't right though, like poking fun at the disabled or something on that order. I guess one man's joke is another man's insult, and some people just have trouble distinguishing between the two.

I am naturally reddish blonde and in my past I have highlighted my hair to a true blonde color, and blonde jokes don't offend me at all. I think they are a hoot. I even started a discussion of the best blonde jokes a while back. My favorite is... Why can't a blonde make frozen orange juice? Because the can says, "concentrate"!

Myself I take them as what they are just a joke, I do not look at blond people differently just because I have heard a few jokes.

That's how I am with the blond jokes carmat. I don't think anything less of blonde people. One could substitute any hair color and I wouldn't really care!

If I were a blond, and sensitive, it would most likely turn me off. But, I am not. However to be honest with you crazynurse, I do not like any jokes about anyone in any way. I don't find it humorus at all. Maybe I don't have a good sense of humor. But laughing at a person isn't funny to me.

I do not like to listen to jokes, at all. Blond jokes are not about "blond" women, but stupid women ,who want be seen more than they are. And unfortunatelly the most of them are blond :) I do not suppose the people mean THE blonds. I think everybody when listen to blond joke - imagine a plastic stupid chick. Not the hair is blond, but the brain.

I think that they are hilarious and they contribute more to some blondes acting that way. But, I do not think that all blondes could be that dumb as the jokes indicate.
