Where people don't hate americans? I am planning a vacation with my family, I have a 12 year old daughter. I want to go somewhere out of the country, but I don't know where it would be nice to take my family and not be treated horribly. This isn't a discussion to start a rant on the war and politics, I really want to know where you suggest I go. Thank you. I will rate all answers, and positive ratings are only for answers pertaining to the question.

Honestly, you should be treated well anywhere in Europe just as long as you don't keep up the stereotype of the American tourist and try to speak a little of the local language. I noticed people said you shouldn't visit France or England, but Paris (same goes for Lille! We get a lot of Americans here and you're very welcome) and London are perfectly lovely places to visit and both would be really good for your daughter to see. The Netherlands should have friendly enough people, or so I've heard from tourists (although I'm half Dutch so I'm a bit biased as well) and from my own experience the people in Scotland are extremely friendly (I'm half Scottish too, very biased, hehe). Just try to avoid the whole tourist routine and you should be fine!

I want to let u know first that there isnt any such thing like americans being hated. Some people have got this narrow minded thinking against americans.I am a muslim. Now i know that first thing which will come to your mind will be that i may also hate americans as I m a muslim. But sorry i dont and like me there are crores of muslims who dont. Its not only abt muslims. It is abt every other person irrespective to their religion or nationality or colour. And the bottom line is why will u spoil ur dreams of visiting the beautiful places of the world only for some narrow minded thinking ppl.Enjoy ur life

I appreciate your point of view. I will always avoid putting my daughter in the sights of people that behave badly with hate, especially if i know where to avoid. I will not plan a vacation with researching the area I am going. If I feel that the people are not going to treat us kindly because we are unwelcomed Americans, there a many other places I can choose frim to visit. I am realistic. Just because I would like to think that most people in foreign countries will not mistreat people they don't even know from america doesn't make it true. I have a daughter, I will never knowingly put her in harms way or make her go to a place people hate her for being a white american girl. It isn't a perfect world, so I live accordingly. We don't have to embrace the hateful people, we can just avoid them when posible.

Don't take them to France!! I have found Italy and Germany to be most hospitable and Switzerland to be nice if the people think you are wealthy.

Ok, so I have to pretend to be wealthy so they can suck up to get my money and talk trash about me when I am not around, kinda like being in Miami. OK, got it.

Hi! i am from the Philippines and being a citizen of this country i personally invite you to visit here because of the beautiful places we have here including the food and as well the warm hospitality of the people. I know that there are several travel advisory about our country specially about terorism but actually it does not apply to the whole country. Philippines is consist of 7,107 islands and with that i can assure you that our cities are safe. We do have beautiful beaches all around the country, particularly BORACAY where most of the tourist visit. Aside from that, visiting here will not really cost you a lot of money coz $1 is actually equivalent to ony just 49-50 pesos in our currency. You can visit to a lot of cities with different feastevities around the year and its really a great expereince to you and your kinds. One more thing, we dont hate americans, in fact America and Philippines soldiers are actually having military exercises here right now. Hope you consider visiting my country. Thanks and God bless!

I think Engand would be safe as any place. I'm considering going there. There is so much history. I want to see the places I read about in school. I not only think it would be a real treat for your daughter, but she could learn something by visiting the United Kingdom. . my friend

Someone posted that there are places in the UK that we aren't going to be welcome, but it would be nice to see some of it. Maybe we can dress in disguise. LOL

How about South Africa? I haven't ever heard of anyone hating americans here. Its a beautiful country and i shall email you pics if you like. the hospitality is outstanding. and they all speak english. there isnt a place where you would not be understood. and contrary to all the media blurtings about crime here, they show what they want others to see. every country has parts where its not as safe to be as other places. It's modern, yet you can do a safari, cruise ship, smart hotel or just plain relaxed self catering here. I would suggest the Cape province, and Mpumalanga and the Kruger National Park. We have got forests, deserts, grasslands, oceans, and everything that you ever dreamt of in a vacation. I don't even want to go outside of my country just for traveling purposes, as we have everything here. and to the dollar, you will have a lot of money left when you return to home. things are very reasonably priced here. No jokes. a smart dining experience would cost you about $30. for us its R200(2 days salary).

I have received good hospitality and kindness from people in Canada, Mexico, Spain, and Bermuda. But, with the exception of Mexico these were all years ago and things may have changed since my visiting. My parents have several Canadian neighbors (during the winter months) that are very gregarious and loving, most of them are from Saskatchewan but I have no reason to believe that the other areas are any less welcoming and friendly towards their neighbors to the south.

I suggest you pay Philippines a little visit, you might have heard that it's unstable politically but it's really a good place to be. A lot of americans came and loved it here aside from the beaches our greatest pride are the people. Anywhere you'd go you are welcome with a smile. We are one of the warmest people in the world. Whatever we do, whatever we say...we do it with our whole hearts...we smile with our hearts...

Jenalyn, I would recommend coming out to visit Ontario Canada. It's a great province and even if you we're to head east - New Brunswick, Labrador you will have such a great time with your family. There are many sites to see and out East the people are very friendly. Even if they don't know you, you're always greeted with a smile and perhaps a drink or two. I hope this helps.

If you decide to visit New Zealand, you will find the South Island is not only Beautiful, but is more friendly to Americans than the North Island. The North Island is nice, but is filled with crime and violence. There is a strong Anti American mind set there. Many people view America as a bully in world affairs. I feel disappointed that so many would judge all of the American people on the hype of political bigots, or the actions of a few Americans. I feel disturbed that so many people make a judgement without even taking the time to find out the facts or reason about the allegations. Yes, the South Island is the better choice if you would like to visit New Zealand. The people are freindlier, and the mind set is generally positive, especially in the Nelson region. You will enjoy your vacation here.

You could go further into B.C. very beautiful if you like skiing it's great there this time of year. There is lots to do and see up here. I hope that helps!

I think you can visit Italy but I am sure that you can go all around the world. I am travelling a lot (I am Italian) and I think every part of the world is dangerous and safe at the same time. A bad thing can happen every where also close to your house (it happen to me) and didn't happen in really dangerous places all around the world.

That's a question I would wonder about also. Not only that but if there are any extra passport hassles, etc. I would suggest Canada... but if you want to go off the mainland, but stay in the U.S. the island of Maui in Hawaii would be great. Fresh tropical fruit and flowers, the weather is perfect every day, the whales should be there in February to watch, luaus, hula dancing, one of the hotels has their own lagoon to paddle around on and see fish and turtles in the water. Great place to take kids and go to relax, but like everywhere else, expensive.

Hi Jenalyn, I would suggest try coming to India especially southern part of India try Kerela, Bangalore Chennai and we have good tourist spots like Ooty, Kodaikannal, Boat houses in Kerela, hill stations ans most of green pastures and waterfalls, wildlife sancturies, and lot more to have fun with. I can assist you with it if necessary. We help people from UK & US to enjoy their trip in South India and that's my father's profession, he can speak reall good english as his father is a Brit and that's my grand pa. People from abroad feel at home here as you find real nice people and they are not harsh that they hate Americans or the Brits its just that we can tolerate other countries just making statements such as Indians are useless, they can't speak english, they are not educated and so on. Anyways as an Indian I can vouch for my fellow citizens that we are loving and we always welcome people like yourselves. Many Thanks Daniel
