Have you ever entered a Karaoke Contest? If not, would you?

What song did you/would you sing if you entered a karaoke contest? I have entered a few of them and sang "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper and "Two out of Three Aint Bad" By Meatloaf. I wondered if others had entered any of these contests, or would consider entering a contest, what songs they think they might sing.

As embarassed as it is to admit it, I did a few songs by The Scorpions and Type O Negative. Of course I had to supply the karaoke CD because they aren't exactly what most people consider mainstream. I didn't win but I had a blast with my insane friends.

There's nothing wrong with that, some of the best songs are the ones no one else is doing. Although I've never done them in a contest, I've done some really outrageous songs at some of the local bars. There are a few of the bars around here that enjoy them, and a couple that don't seem to approve of that type of music, so I try to reserve those songs for the ones where they are appreciated.

If I really have a powerful voice I would belt out the song And Im Telling You from Dreamgirls, it has all the drama and a flare to win.

Me? Karaoke? Hell, I never go out much these days, so I've never even karaoked before.
I did sing in high school as a member of various singing ensembles and soloed, so I probably WOULD at least consider entering a Karaoke Contest. I'd probably sing (or butcher) "Just the Way You Are" or "My Life" by Billy Joel.

You should try karaoke sometime. It's a lot of fun. I like your taste in music too. I really enjoy Billy Joel. I've sang severel of his songs, including both of the ones you mentioned. I actually considered doing "Just the Way You Are" for one of the contests I entered, but decided on "Two out of Three Aint Bad" instead.

I've never done karaoke even though friends have tried to drag me up there. I am pretty sure I don't know how to sing well and I'm not going to prove tihs on stage in front of people. I really don't know how other people can do it, especially when the person singing is obviously horrible.
I've actually never heard of a contest, only karaoke in general. What type of contest is it and how do you win?

A couple of years ago I had my first and last karaoke experience. I sang Sonny and Chers "I got you Babe" with a guy freind and he took it really seriously and it was my first time and I was nervous (hadnt drank enough I guess, lol) and that kind of ruined the experience because he got mad that I was giggling.
I do enjoy watching it though and kudos to all that get up on stage to preform!

I think that would be great. I've heard that they have a great time at those. I'm hoping I'll be able to attend one. I've heard that they are planning an unofficial one in Michigan this spring. I'm hoping I'll be able to make it. I'm sure it would be a blast.

No, we have karaoke at home with over 10,000 songs on it. We always karaoke at home at night or when there are occasions at home. My dad loves to sing. I do too once in awhile. I think I don't have the guts to join any singing contest of any kind lol. I am afraid of people. I can only sing at home or in the bath room.

I enjoy singing at home too, but I also have a lot of fun going out with my friends and singing. It can be a lot of fun singing for an audience. At first it made me nervous to sing in front of a lot of people, but after a while you get used to it. Now I really enjoy it. It makes me feel good to see that people are really enjoying it when I sing.

I haven't but I always promised myself I would try most things at least once in my life. This sounds like it would be something really fun.

I never enter any Karaoke contest because I don’t have a good singing voice. If it is not a contest, I don’t mind to sing although I sing out of tune. As I just want to enjoy it and have fun. My favourite Karaoke songs are ‘Top of the world’ and ‘The end of the world’. LOL

I have never entered a karaoke contest - my personal experience with karaoke was one time, and I sang "High On You" by Survivor. It went pretty well. I am not sure if I would get up enough courage to enter a contest though...... I get stage fright in front of a lot of people. :-)

A few years ago, I sang in a karaoke contest.....rules were that you had to dress up like your favourite singer and sing! I dressed up like Roberta Flack, and one FIRST PRIZE!!! it was a lot of fun!!!! :))

That sounds like a lot of fun. I have never entered one where you needed to dress up like the singer, although you could if you wanted to. That is great that you won first prize. I don't look much like most of the singers that I sing, so I might have to think harder about which songs I would choose if I was trying to look like the singer too.
