Its all balls. Its just a fiction based book.So dont make it a big issue. It is similar to asking if harry potter really existed.

I have read the Da Vinci Code and although it is fiction it is based upon many facts. The Priory of Sion is a European secret society founded in 1099 and IS a real organization. The documents known as Les Dossiers Secrets, discovered in 1975 identify numerous members of the Priory of Sion, including Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Leonardo da Vinci himself of course.
The Vatican prelature known as Opus Dei is a deeply devout Catholic sect that has been the topic of recent controversy due to reports of brainwashing, coercion, and a dangerous preactice known as "corporal mortification." Opus Dei has just completed construction of a $47 million World Headquarters at 243 Lexington Ave. in New York City. All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.
