MyLot is a waste of time!

Ok, I'm getting frustrated here. I spent like 5 hours writing yesterday and hardly anyone even responded to my posts nor to my responses to others' discussions. Not to mention the fact that I made a whopping 75 cents! Don't get me wrong, I am loving MyLot overall, but it is very disheartening to spend your time working hard at responding to someone else's discussion and they don't take the time to tell you what they think. And I have been trying really hard to get a "best response" but without any luck - what in your eyes does it take?

I hate to break it to you, but a lot of that information is wrong.
I get anywhere from one cent to eight cents for posting pictures, and I made two dollars and eighty cents yesterday for posting less than twenty responses and only one discussion. There are no set ratios for posting to earning.

I have been facing the same problem. And I'm at 196!!! Actually, I have been responding more than starting topics. Even then, I don't get any best responses no matter how much effort I put into these posts. IS, just hang in there. That's what I've been saying to myself. Someone will eventually cite one of your responses as the best response. The trick is to make as many friends here as possible so that they can respond to the threads you bring about.

Thanks, Raj, for the great response! Just hang in there is right! It's really all good, but sometimes it just makes me wonder just what it's going to take to get proper recognition. Your comment about compiling friends I would have to agree very stringly with! Thank you for your insightful response!

I think it just takes patience. Most of the time you don't receive response right away. That is what I found, but the more friends you add, the better response rate you'll get. I try to respond to all my friend's response when I'm on here. Sometimes I'm not, but I find people responding to topics I posted months ago....so, it just takes patience.

Patience is indeed a virtue! I am finding out quickly that friends are indeed crucial to getting good responses. Interestingly, this topic has exposed me to more people and some are going back and responding to some of the other discussion which I opened a week ago. And since I opened this discussion I now have a best response - yeay!
I also see now, however, how naive a statement it was to say that mylot is a waste of time, but I was at my wit's end, having spent a lot of time to raise important questions to this community and I did not get any responses. I know full well that mylot is NOT a waste of time, but perhaps that's what it takes sometimes to get noticed; I had to get a little abrasive in hopes of getting my message out there. I do apologize to the mylot community if the wording of my statement rubbed anyone the wrong way. I was just venting I suppose; reflecting my mood at the time. Things are looking up. Thank you to all for many words of encouragement - it helps a (my)lot!
Kindly,
Charlie

i usually monitor my topics.. i must see to it that i am the one who responded it. i made comments to those who replied. but with my response to other discussion i never checked if somebody is leaving a comment or not. it took a lot of time to browse my responses. sometimes i do get back but very rare..

It is good that you are so devoted to responding to your topics - I aspire to be that way as well. However, I have quickly discovered that if you open up too many discussions at once, then you will really have your hands full and quickly! Heck, it will take me several days to respond to this can of worms which I opened, but I intend to respond to each and every person who added to this discussion. Afterall, I owe it to them, right?! But that's why I raised this issue in the first place - it can be disheartening when no one replies to your well-thought out post. Thank you again, Leon for your contribution!

persistance. Short sweet and simple If you persist in your posts eventually you will get to where you want to be. First off, mylot will NOT make you rich. Secondly I do this more for the fun of it. And third you are new here try adding pictures to your discussions they will help you earn a little

Well, you have to take heart and study the community a bit. This same situation i found myself the very first week i started. you only need to study what the audience want to discus. I can tell you that today, I have made over 120 posts. only 3 oth the post were discusiions. The rest were responses. Once i don't have something interesting to stir the with of the members i don't make discusions. It will suprise you that even your friend may not respond to your discussions. Everyone has the are of interest. when you hit on this, you will marvel. I've made several posts that only managed to recieve 2 responses. Likewise have i made discussions that recieved well over 2 hundred responses. So, don't lose heart please.

All very good advice. This discussion alone has helped me to see more of how the mylot community works! What a blessing to be your friends! Thank you for all the input!

I've looked at your discussion topics and I consider them to be pretty good! :)
The lack of responses is probably due to your newness, so what I recommend is that you boost your scores by responding to more of the posts that interest you.
It seems that increasing your activity as a commentator may attract others to view your discussions.
I supplement my "satisfaction" quotient by visiting "Day Tippers"
http://www.daytippers.com and leaving a few tips there, if they are accepted, Day Tippers will pay you $3.00 per tip, but be aware, they are pretty choosy and you have to be totally original with your suggestions and tips or they won't be accepted.
The thing is, though, they will let you know via email and responses will at least let you know that someone cares enough to at least look at your work! :)
By the way, Day Tippers has no affiliate program, so I don't make any money by telling you about this... it's just my way of sharing a suggestion to keep your writer's mind from bogging down in frustration.
May Joy, Abundance and Peace be with your forever and may Blessings Abound for You and Your's! :)

The CORRECT link for Daytipper is http://www.daytipper.com Sorry for the error. I have a tendency to add an "s" of what I believe should be a pluralised pronoun! :)

Thank you, peaceful! You a terrific individual - very kind and helpful - I appreciate what you had to say here, much like a father to his son or the old pro to the newbie. I am glad that I started this discussion, even despite exposing my naivete. That's part of the learning process, I think. Once I am finished responding to all 167 people who posted to this discussion, I will be devoting some quality time to repaying my friends by posting to their topics instead of mine. I am starting to see the bigger picture here and it is because of people like you who exemplify compassion and wisdom. Rock on, peaceful! I will eventually pay you a visit. But for now...more responses!

I was frustrated at the time and I think that it was more or less legitimate at the time. But that has changed since I first posted this, because so many people, such as yourself, funfreak, have helped to put a better perspective on it all and for that I am thankful.

Thank you for your kind words! I am working on the referral thing - most of it, I am finding, is through word of mouth. I am telling people at random and so far a few have joined, but they have done nothing so far. Patience is the key. I am happy just to have had the opportunity to have discovered this great community. Thank you to all and to you, thatcrazy...for contributing to this discussion!

ive had 1 or 2 best responses if i can remember, not sure but it's something, i think when people choose you as their best response, it's got to be a best answer in all, if your not happy that nobody is responding to your discussions and you respond to there's then you should be careful of who you choose for friends, if they have added you as a friend, if for eg you post on someones discussion then they post on your's try and stick with posting on theirs and they might choose you as best response! good luck! :O)

Referrals are super important, you are right! Gonna take a while to reach 500, but one response at a time will have to do the trick!

thats pretty good, I got 64 cents the first day, Sometimes you gotta get people to be added on your list, so then you can then let your friends know, sometimes we don't see all the discussions there are hundreds being made everyday possibly. we can't read them all, but we can try!

If you want people to start responding to you just create very interesting topics and they will start to respond but it wont be all at once you may have to leave the discussion for a while before a large number of person really get the chance to respond.

Well I'm in the same situation..
I also don't know wot it takes for "best response". atlest you have earned something.. I'haven't yet started with a single penny..
take it as a pastime. not seriously. Otherwise it's goin to hamper your other work also..
