Writing and Self-Publishing

I have always loved writing--poetry in particular. During my growing up years, my mother saved every poem I scribbled or turned in for a class assignment. As I got older, I wrote poems for special occasions and it seems that someone always saved a copy. About seven years ago, with the help of my mother and others, I pulled together all of my poetry and added multiple pieces which I had created in recent years and decided to self publish. I did all the appropriate Interenet research, and the end result was a very attactive book, professionally produced, and a personal delight for me, my family and friends, and to the many others who were interested enough to purchase my work. This was one of the most fulfilling ventures of my life. So much so, that two years ago, I had my second book of poetry published. Anyone out there thinking about doing the same? I would be happy to share some of my experiences with you and offer any advice you may seek. Hoping to hear from you.

I have published some poems at poetry.com and am compiling them to be published with Proverbs and Quotations but up to now, it's not yet finished.
I have been publishing at lulu.com I am a translator of the Word of God from Greek to English. I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into
PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at

I have not spent even a single cent in publishing these. There are no set up fees. Authors are not even required to buy even a single copy of their books. In fact I have not seen any copy of any of my books as I have no money and I don't even have any credit card.

This is a very helpful information to those who dream to publish. Even poor people can now be published authors. Yes, apparently lulu.com is a great help to you. I hope to publish something someday also. May God continue to bless you.

That sounds great and good for you. With the technology of today it really makes it easier for people to self publish. Did you use a service or POD printer or did you print them all yourself?
I too enjoy writing poetry but I never really cared to share it with people until my family hounded me enough so I started putting some up online. I have thought many times about publishing a book but have never gotten around to it. I write to express my feelings and sometimes help me understand things. My writing is definately more for me than anyone else.
I know they say there is not a big demad for poetry but I disagree. i think there are more people interested that statistic give credit for.
Where do you sell your books? Send me a link if they are online and I will chekc them out.

I have always wanted to write also but there are many obstacles. Well, I heard that lulu.com is a good site for PODs. Try going there and see if that suits your desires. May your dreams come true.
