Do you feel at all safe when you are in a hotel or in a motel? well i dont. i always check the room first for any wires. i check the bathroom for any hidden cameras. i am afraid there might be some spy cameras watching my every move. i dont know why people love spying at other people. they use cellphones or digital cameras to record the private lives of other people. i even saw on tv a case wherein a lady living in apartment was monitored by some maniac 24hours a day. the culprit installed a video camera on the electric posts in front of the window of the lady's apartment. he was able to see the lady everyday when dressing and even when making love with his boyfriend. people have gone really insane. if we cant be safe at home how much more in other areas like hotels, motels, public comfort rooms. let us just be extra careful everyone.

it is indeed a sorry state of affairs that we are witnessing.fuelled by technology,we are in the process of redefining the domains of the public and the private.the insatiable voyeuristic tendency has received a fillip from the advent of technology.the cameras are everywhere as are the microphones, these make act of converting the highly private into the numbiingly public extremely easy! it really sickens me to read of such reports, especially when i think of my loved ones that are at mercy of some sick, twisted demented freak.the concept of privacy has just been unceremoniously shoved out of the door!

yes i agree. but it's still the people's own act that made technology hurt people. technology by itself is not harmful. Its when people use it for bad that makes technology harmful.than you for replying.

I think it is a bigger worry than most people think, even with people you should feel safe with, if a young gitrl goes to a boyfriends place and things beging to happen, I think you will find there is a lot of secret recording going on there as well, it seems as I have found out from a friend a lot of youngs really think it is quite cool to have something to watch and show later on...oh this world to a sad place.,....

I don't feel comfortable with spy cameras definitely. In my country, news reported that there were hidden cameras in public restrooms. It's morally degrading and it doesn't make any person at ease to relieve themselves inside the malls or anywhere outside their homes. It could probably cause a Urinary infection if they have to keep doing that. When I ride on an elevator, I don't feel at ease either as I have to stay put even if i'm by myself.

Sometimes I do check all the parts of the room if they have camera. I think it is more common in the hotel nowadays. I've heard my hard did this because he works in the hotel. I know it is insane to do this. I think people like these should be put in jail. It is an outrageous behavior to spy people. It is invasion of privacy.

You are right, and I agree. But,this world is changing day by day, more progress and more crime. It's scary that we really do not have privacy, as there is always some sick one doing something different to invade us, and come up with a new gimmick how to do it. So, you must be as careful as you can.

I never even thought to look. I've never seen wires laying around a hotel room, but now I will investigate a little more next time I go.
I know why ppl like to spy - people are either nosy or loney. The loney people are the ones that get sick and twisted and start spying on ppl doing everyday things! The nosy people are bored and spy on ppl b/c they want to see what they are up to.

Yes I dont get it either why some people like spying on others. Life is too complicated to have time to spy on others! Dont they have problems on their own? I know mini cameras have their official uses but sometimes they're being used the wrong way.

I agree, privacy is being invaded more and more every day. People are taking pictures/videos of you in public with their phones.
Hidden cameras are being installed everywhere.

I haven't really thought about it too much. It is crazy the things people will go through to spy on others. In a hotel room I definatly never thought about it... Can you imagine what they would get. Oh my, I would probably already be on the web for something. THat is scary.lol.. And when I'm at home 99% of the time I have the curtains shut.. People don't need to know what I do in my own home.. People should worry more about themselves and less about what others are doing

Let me tell you one precaution way to prevent all this crappy stuff. Some of you might know this kind of mirror which used by police for viewing the Q&A session. Its a kind of mirror when only one side can see the other side. Thats means person A can see person B through the mirror but person B just see himself in the mirror like the other mirror.
There's some difference between this mirror and normal mirror. This how to check it. Touch the mirror in the hotel rooms, any mirror, with your finger, pointing towards the mirror. And then observe your finger, whether there's a gap between your real finger and your finger image in the mirror. If there's a gap, then you're safe. But if both of them touched, there might me a digital camera recording what are you doing.

Yes one way mirrors are scary. You don't know who is watching over you on the other side.

I so agree with you. We should just try to be safe since we can't control other people's actions.

Yeh we need to be extra careful these days. I always check the bathroom first for hidden wires/cameras when I stay in any hotel. Then yes, it has become unsafe at home also for many people due to hidden cameras watching their every move. I heard about a case of 4 girl students living in same flat in an apartment. They took the flat for rent & lived there. After some weeks or months, their flat owner started blackmailing them with the cds he had made by placing hidden cameras in all the rooms. And the girls decided to expose him & went to the police. Now I think he is in jail. Some people use hidden cameras for fun & some for blackmailing & getting some money, but they don't have any right to invad others privacy. I think such people should be punished for what they are doing.

It is really hard to tell when or where it is safe. I don't know how to determine if there are spy cameras either but I know one thing about two way mirrors. You will know if the mirror in the bathroom is two way if you turned off the lights and you see something on the other side. Pretty creepy, huh.

I've never felt watched anywhere else. But I do suspect that some hotels do spy on their guests. Which is why I make it a point to stay at known hotels or their affiliates in the chain. They're a little more expensive but when I pay more, I feel a little more secured. Does that make sense? It happens when I'm buying clothes and computer peripherals too. Oh yeah, this just gave me another idea for a discussion! :)
