I am new to MyLot today, but already have found 2 other young women who are also affected by breast cancer.
I was diagnosed in the summer of 2005 at 24 years old. I had a mastectomy, 6 FEC chemo treatments and now take tamoxifen daily and will for 5 years.
A common theme I found in the profiles of the 2 girls I read about is that they too are young and looking for others to connect with that are dealing with the same issues. Rather than message to both gals I thought I would post a new discussion and hopefully others looking for this info will find it as well.
Young Survival Coalition is the place that I found really helped me during my breast cancer journey. On their website they have message boards that are divided into topics like treatment, reconstruction, fertility, excercise, and a metastatic board. Everyone there is really welcoming and it is all girls that have been through it or are going through it. It was a source of inspiration for me to read about how they got through some rough times and I learned some tips too about parenting and relationship issues that are relevant to us undergoing treatment and illness.
I always felt confident that I would recieve helpful answers when I posted a question.
Every year YSC hosts an annual conference for young women. This year it is in Arlington Virginia. I could not attend last year in Denver because I was still in treatment, but am going to Arlington in February. I am really excited to meet some of the girls that I corresponded with on the boards and am looking forward to the workshops and learning about the newest in advocacy, treatments and reconstruction.

To find the boards go to Community link on the left hand side, under community choose bulletin board. You can create a user account and also paste pictures.
I hope you ladies check it out, let me know what you think of it. I know it was a great place for me to connect with other young women and to get information from girls that had been through what I was just beginning.
