It seems a lot easier for me to do this in the summer when all the fresh fruits and veggies are out. I try to eat 5 now but many days I have to drink some fruit juice to add to it

I know what you mean about the summer. We have a ton of farmers markets around here so I am always stocked up on fresh foods. I try to stay away from fruit juice b/c it isn't usually 100% fruit.

I sure do! Some ways that I have found to increase my fruits is to use the little packed fruits by del monte and other companies. (like you would put in a child's lunch!) Also I eat applesauce (be sure to get the ones with no sugar added). Applesauce is great with some cinnamon added to it, or nutmeg! Canned fruits are great too,(such as pears, peaches etc.)but again, be very careful not to get the ones packed in heavy syrup! I always keep a bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer. I dump a handful into my oatmeal or cold cereal..yum! (blueberries are great antioxidants too!) I try to have a salad each day, but if not, it means I have more vegetables with my meal. We eat a lot of vegetables baked. I cut cauliflower pieces and carrots and brocolli pieces. Spread on a cookie sheet. Lightly spritz with some Pam and sprinkle with desired spices (garlic, onion powder, anthing!) bake at 325 for about 20 minutes. YUM! We do the same with sliced sqush and zuchiini. These I cut into strips like french fries and bake with just a tad of breadcrumbs and some spices...these are great seasoned with italian-type spices. Let them get crispy! We use a lot of canned green beans. It is easy to get in your vegetables once you get used to it!

No, I don't. I have never tried to eat this much or that much fruits/vegetables. And I think it would not be easy for beginners to eat 5 fruits & vegetables daily, but slowly you'll be able to do it easily. When you eat fruits & vegetables, try to enjoy them instead of thinking you just have to eat it. Or else, forget its taste & just think you need to finish it.

I know I should eat that many but I don't. Usually my servings of food and veggies are carrots, corn, apples and orange juice.

I love both, so I find it very easy to get enough. If you drink some kind of fruit juice, alot of times, that is almost a daily serving.

No way! I do not like fruit at all, so if I eat just one in a week it is a miracle. I eat 1 or 2 vegetable with at least one of my meals, but I am still not getting 5 in one day. You would have to have fruit and vegetable at every meal and then again with 2 snacks to get that many in a day.

I try! I was eating a banana or an orange with my breakfast with a little bit of orange juice. Then a veggie with my lunch. I would have a serving of pineapple between lunch and dinner. It was canned pineapple in its own juice (unsweetnend) and I probably have 2 servings of veggies for supper. Somehow I got way off track.
Be careful how much fruit you eat. You can gain weight if you eat too much of it because of all the sugar. It is good for you but too much of a good thing isn't!

i usually add vegetables to my cooking.... either in soups , casserole or a side dish of mixed vegetable to my steak or bbq. fruits for snacks or in desserts.... fresh fruit juice as a great alternative too. i'm gonna feel sick or weak if i don't have fruits or vegetables in my meal for the day.

I know for certain that I don't eat that many fruits per day. In fact, the only fruits that I usually get in my diet are ones that are in some of the yogurts that i eat. I definitely get at least five veggies a day, though, because my family eats these 99.9% percent of the time:
1. peas
2. corn
3. beans
4. broccoli
5. cauliflower
6. brussel sprouts
7. rutabega
8. turnip
And there might be one more.. but we definitely have the above almost every single day. And sometimes spinach, as well! ^_^

I'm terrible about getting enough fruits and veggies. I blame my boyfriend for it mostly; he is a very picky eater and doesn't like many veggies. So, it is easier for me to not cook them at all than to try to seperate them out. I probably only get two or three servings a day instead of five.

Telling you the truth that i do not eat five fruits daily or I can't maintain it daily. But, I do eat vegetables daily..As we are aware of advantages of fruits and vegetables since then we do not maintain it...that is called HUman Being (Which always make mistakes)
