If you either have or intend to sell some things on ebay, what would you sell to make some extra money. I've been trying to come up with some good ideas, but am falling short. Seems that the costs of postage and shipping is always a big deal. It takes a very attractive price and makes it not so. Looking forward to your help here. Thanks

The Best thing to sell on ebay is electronic! You can find whole products is just depends on where you look, if you go to (thegarnetstore.com) try garnetallen.com looking for a banner on the let hand side called megagoods they have wholesale product that you can get to sell on ebay. This company works with ebay! Have fun making money! Garnet Allen

I sold rubber stamps for 3 years. While I wouldn't exactly recommend selling those, I can tell you some things from my experience. It takes awhile to get a customer base built up, but once you do your sales will increase. A large % of the people I sold to were multiple buyers. You might try going to garage sales to find potential merchandise to sell. Sometimes obscure little town antique shops will have items which can be sold for profit. The whole point is to buy cheap and sell for as much as you can get. Shipping is a killer and only gets worse. Most ebay buyers are resigned to that. Just don't become one of those people who list things very cheap with very high shipping. I hate those people and refuse to buy anything from them. Be honest, helpful, and friendly, and you'll do fine.

Thanks for the tip. Shipping is a killer, until you get to expensive items. I hear you saying that it is better to be upfront with people than to surprise them with a big shipping and handling fee. Have a great day.

Webmann's answer is great. I just recently read an article about getting started with Ebay and they suggested exactly what Webmann suggested--clearing out your attic, basement, garage, unwanted items, etc. The article stated that this was a good way to introduce yourself to Ebay and to find out if you could make a profit and if you enjoyed what you were doing.

I'd love to hear more details from someone who has done this. What kind of things did they sell? When I think of my garage I think of things that would be hard to ship or things that are dirty and used. I'm sure there are options, just looking for someone to help open up my mind.

When I first started selling on eBay I went through our garage, basement and closets to find all the stuff we had not bothered to unpack since we bought our house. That gave me so much stuff to sell on eBay that it paid for my entire summer of fishing, including all new equipment. It was a lot of fun. The say one man's trash is another man's treasure and it works for me.

Cosmetics are big, you can almost sell them at retail price, good if you can get them in bulk price. Also designer bags but you gotta know what the real ones look like. PSPs and Ipods are big too. I have seen websites where you can purchase items wholesale even if you just buy 1 piece and they do have dropshipping which means you don't have to shelve out money to buy stock. You sell online showing a picture, when you get paid for it, you pay the dropshipper and they send the item to the buyer. I can share with you one site I have been fond of looking at if I were only in the US I would sell on ebay as well. Try www.liquidations.com they sell a lot of things in bulk... if you want to know what people are buying a lot of in ebay, there is a function there on ebay that shows just that.

marief2rnurse - thanks so much for the informative response. I will check out the link. Buying at a bulk price is obviously good. Sounds like you may have looked at other ways to sell than ebay. Hope you have a great day.

Thanks a lot for tips. Shoes surprise me, but I guess if it is a particularly hot fad right now that makes sense. Still trying to figure out where to go with the ebay thing. Have a great day!

theres a lot of potential items that can be sold on ebay. You just need to know how to describe the items and ways of getting the item to its maximum profit. There are a lot of books or videos out there that will give you tips on that, I've seen some commercials on it, but I just think that selling items on ebay will take time and you will get used to it.
