A friend went to dinner at another friends house for dinner. They were having homemade chicken noodle soup. When she got there the soup was cooking on the stove and she noticed that a cat was lurking around it... WHen it came time to eat she said she almost threw up because there was cat hair in the soup.. she said it was just alittle but the top was covered in cat hair.. She didn't know what to do.. she didn't want to be rude.. (she is a very quiet person) she said she pretended to take a couple of bites and commented on how good it was and she wishes she could eat more but she has had a stomach all day and didn't want to over do it... What would have you done or have you had any experiences like that?

Yes, I would have knocked the cat down or told the person. Cats believe they own everything you always have to show them whos boss.

She should have said something. I own two cats and would never allow them anywhere near the food I was preparing - regardless if there was company or not. It is unsanitary to have any kind of hair in your food. I would not have eaten one bite.

I would have made the same excuse as your friend did, but I wouldn't have had any of the soup. I wouldn't have had anything at all if I thought there was a cat in the house near the food. I think I might have even taken matters a step further and made some excuse to go home again. I feel ill just thinking about it.

Thats gross. I would have said something most definately. I'm sure the person who cooked wouldn't want you to eat cat hair. Maybe they didn't notice it. I'd be mortified if I served something with cat hair in it- Then again my cat isn't allowed on the counters, tables, or near food. Its very unsanitary! For heavens sake cats scratch in litter boxes-- Gross! I don't think I would have even eaten a bite.

What else can you do? If she would have said something they both would have been emabarrassed and there would have been hurt feelings. I think she did the best thing she could do.

That's gross. Poor girl. I would have done the same thing. There is really nothing else you can do unless you want to hurt their feelins. Well, I guess she knows not to go there for dinner anymore. lol.

That cat must have been shedding pretty bad. Well it would probably be the last time I ate their unless I got their early enough to help out and make sure the cats are away from the kitchen the whole time. I believe in putting a cat either in a different room mostly the bathroom when I am cooking. Lucky that wasn't my mom she would have throwed it She once throwed cornmeal dough at me because I didn't make it right once so I know she would have throwed it. I would have done exactly as your friend did stayed quite told a little white lie and as I said make sure I'm there next time before the cooking starts. No use hurting someones feelings over something they didn't do purposely

I would have told the person that there was cat hair in my soup and didn't want to eat it. Plain and simple. It isn't healthy to have cats hanging out on counters and near food preparation areas.

I hate pet fur and I think that it's gross that the person who made the soup didn't realize it and offer to buy pizza or something else. I think that she probably should have told her friend that the soup was full of fur so that she wouldn't serve it to anyone else!

i would have also done the same as your friend or would have said that im allergic to chicken noodle soup.saying the truth may have offended the hosts.its a tough thing to say the truth about bad cooked food aor in cases like this to people when they invite you over for a treat.

if i wud have been there, as i never hurt my friends, i wud take the bowl happily and act that the soup had fallen by chance saying sorry....
this will save from having that soup and not even hurt my friend..sometimes in life u need to prove u r a good actor.

well your friend did the right thing by not saying anything, but if it hapens to her again. She should say something about it before it gets put on the table. Again she could tell what she saw to her friend. That she was visting say i think your cat may have gotten into the soup of couse her friend would have investaged it and stop the problem before it started
peace i am out of here

I guess a lot depends on how good of friends they were. If I knew the person pretty well, I probably would have picked out some of the hair to show her and said something like:
"Looks like Fluffy added his own special ingredient! Do you have something with a little less 'seasoning'?"
However, if they weren't that close, I think your friend did a good job of getting out of the situation gracefully.

Fortunately being a vegan I wouldn't have to eat chicken soup!
However I have had an experience of visiting a relative who had dogs and there were dog hairs all over the plates and table. I was polite and did eat some of the food, but took it from the middle of the plates.
