Hi Shobasvk, I'm been a single parent ever since my daughter was 2 (she's now 17) Apart from the boyfriends inbetween I've brought her up on my own. I wouldn't recommend it, not only is there the financial issue but there is a big responsibilty problem too. I chose to go out to work from when she was young to try and give us a better life, but I do feel that I have missed out on alot of her life and felt guilty when I've left her with babysitters. I've since spoken to her about this and she feels that I did the right thing. You also have to play the part of mother and father, telling them off when they are naughty, with no one to back you up or give you a break when you are tired. It isn't easy but I wouldnt change it for the world as we're now really close but boy has it been hard work!

Im not a single parent but my sister is now. She is always telling me how hard it is to provide for her 3 children. She just got a job because the kids are old enough to be by them selves for a little while after school. she does get money from her ex, but food and the cost of living is so high today, I often help her out because I feel so sorry for her.
