froogles!

i recently read an article about people called 'froogles' who rebel against the materialistic nature of society by basically being cheap! They claim living this way is a path to happiness. They swap items within communities and make simple lifestyle choices (for example buying clothes from thrift shops). Some dont even buy new things at all! They just make them and trade. What do you guys think of this? I think its kind of cool but don't think i'd be able to manage!

Noooooo I could never do that - I was born to shop. I admire people that can do it but personally I couldn't. Money burns a hole in my purse I'm afraid. If I've got it I spend it. There have been quite a few times in my life when I haven't had any money to spend and I did manage but I didn't have any choice - I had to shop in thrift shops and live on a tight budget but I didn't enjoy it one little bit! I like the luxuries in life - Harvey Nicks is my spiritual home.

I guess I am a 'froogle', although I don't belong to any formal organization for it. It is important to me to make my money go as far as possible. Shopping in thrift stores, yard sales, and the flea market are what my husband and I do for fun. We are constantly amazed at what people get rid of. Most of our home decor has come from these sources, as has our wardrobes. I do buy new undergarments though, can't stand the thought of wearing someone elses panties.

well i don,t really know what you call people like me(maybe froogles) im not sure.I do shop at thrift stores and second hand stores. They have a lot of nice things ,and i do dress very well...I buy all my bra's and panties at Victoria secret, and blouses ,sweaters, and some shoes, just depends on what i find at resale if i buy it..I recently found a new pair of "doc Martins" at thrift for $2.00 AND YOU KNOW THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE.I have bought several antique lamps that are really pretty at thrift stores...If i find an expensive pair of jeans (brand name that fits for a couple of dollare ,then yes i will buy them..I always buy perfumes and makeup new,but i have no probem buying a bargin at thift stores or garage sales,I buy what i like regardless if its new or thrift..
