I absolutely think they should NOT continue the series. The work is the creative vision and voice of the author and no one could do as good of a job. No matter how hard someone tried they would inevitably end up putting their own voice and spin on it. I think that the words are sacred and any further books in a seires die with the author.

Flowers in The Attic was my all time favorite series of books to read. I have read them more then one time. I saw the movie which was a big disappointment. What I think they should do is have a mini series on this I believe it would be a big hit and millions of people would love to be able to watch the whole story as it was really told.

If the series is written under a name that is not your own, I believe then they can do it. I'm not sure of all of the legalities of how and when they can do it, but I know that its done. They usually have certain parameters set up because of previous stories and the new writer has to make it a continuation of the old. That was why someone advised me to use only my own name when I write.
I don't think its fair. I think if a person creates a character then they only know who and what that character should become.
