How do you motivate your children to get their chores done?

Thanks for posting it is good to know it is not just my parenting abilities but maybe just how easy life is for children now a days. Not that I had it so rough..lol.. but I had fear of my parents and it was a good fear one that made you know you respected them and did as they asked. I don't think kids have that anymore.

I was hoping to get a load of wisdom but all I am really getting is that everyone is in my shoes. At least I know I am not alone. Thanks for posting.

Your children sound like mine lol. I have 5 ages 20, 18,15,12 and 2. I think I spoiled them and now I am paying the price. They have very little responsibility and still they slack. I have been raising my 2 year old daughter a little differently. It's a pretty sad sight to see everyone including Dadd get up from the dinner table without removing their plate. They all know better, so why do I have to hound them to do it. The only one who does it is my 2 year old daughter. She's the first one in the kitchen when I start cleaning up the rest of the family disappears. I would just love for one day to have them pick up their own stuff and clean their rooms without me having to ASK them over and over again. My 12 year is tough, he has problems in scholl. He's very smart and super lazy. We took all his priviledges away and he could care less. He comes in and goes to bed. UGhhhhh...kids

Yes we a on the same page. Our kids are even close to the the same ages. I wish you the best of luck and I wish I had more wisdom to pass on to you but I guess all we can do is live and learn. Thanks for posting.

Usually they want to watch tv, or go outside and play or play with friends or on the computer, and we don't allow them to until the chores are done and Mom has came and checked then they can have there time.

Good advice and thank you but my kids are a little more complex than that I swear they would sit there and do nothing if they had a choice not to do their chores. Mind you they do not have much they are required to do and they do them together so if they actually just get up and do it, it only takes them about 20 minutes totally. Children can just be so ungrateful sometimes it makes me crazy. Thanks for you post.
