I talk to my cats all the time telling them how pretty they are or how much I love them and just whatever comes to mind. I think it's just natural that if you're an animal lover you talk to them as if they understand you. Most people would probably think I'm crazy.

I talk to my cat all the time. Yesterday I tried to make a deal with her that I'd bring home more food for her if she'd do the dishes. lol I brought food and still had to do the dishes. But I guess I'm excessive...I still talk to my old cat, Lucky, and he's cremated. :-( I spent 19 1/2 years talking to him so I guess it's one of those "old habits are hard to break" kinda things. :-)

I'm no whisperer but I do talk to them...I'm not sure if they understand me, but I do enjoy telling them things. You know when you're home from work or school it's a busy day and you need someone to be just there and listen without having an objecttion they are quite good with that. Pets make good listener.

Yes, it always make me feel better. Sometimes, I feel like my cat is the only one who really listens to me. I always good because my kitty will start purring and cuddling. It makes me feel loved and appreciated.

Of course I do!
My cats love the little (silly) jingles that I create & sing to them. They also respond very well to what I say. As an example, I have trained my cats to wear a harness and tether when going outside because we live in a city (and I don't like flattened cats).
One day when I was out on the patio working in the garden, my cat Max was outside with me on his tether. He got himself tangled and let out a great big meow to get my attention to "save" him.
Well, I had my hands full with a plant and couldn't go rescue him at that moment, he was fixing to go the wrong way which would have made him more tangled - so I said to Max "go the other way" - he paised and looked at me - then started going the same way. So I said "no, go the other way". Max paused again, looked at me and I said it again "go the other way"...so he turned around, went the other way and untangled himself.

Hi there again...I sometimes believe animals compell us to speak to them because they don't judge us on anything we say. They are fine with us venting, whining so long as we pay attention to them which speaking to them is essentially "attention".

I talk to my cats all the time. I used to come home and tell them if I had a bad day. I also like to tell them that they are good girls. They love to be petted and talked to.

I talk to all animals, and I see nothing wrong with it. Nor do I think I'm crazy. Sure, they can't understand everything I'm saying, but they (cats and dogs, for sure) can tell by the tone of my voice whether I'm happy or upset. They do listen in their own way, and I think it helps create a bond with our pets.

Hi scribe1, I'm always talking to my two cats and whats worse I'm sure they know what I'm saying - my youngest kitten knows when I say 'micey' (his pet name for his toy mouse) and goes and fetches it. I think we all have a habit in talking to our pets afterall they are our companions and most of us have them there for a bit of company
