Should MSN Messenger have an invisible status?

Would you like MSN Messenger to have an "invisble" status like ICQ and Yahoo Messenger does? Would you use it often? [I've been wondering about this for years!]

MSN messenger does a a feature like that. You can set your status to "appear offline". It is exactly the same as being invisible on Yahoo messenger. You can see who is online but they cannot see you.

being "offline" and "invisible" are 2 different things though. When offline you can only see who is online ... when you are invisible you can still talk to the people you want to see you as online and hide from the others

Oh, ok. I didn't realise that you could still chat as 'invisible'. I don't use Yahoo messenger that often.

The real question is why are you using MSN Messenger? Y! Messenger rules!!!!!!!!!!! But there is a work around for this . Rub invisible cream all over your entire body. If you wish to keep your clothes on. You are going to need several gallons of invisible cream and everyone knows that stuff is expensive. So take the clothes off after that you will be invisible even if you change your status to online and you can msg friends...J/K..

MSN Messenger is my least favourite chat program - but because a lot of my friends use it and only it ... i've had to use it daily or i'll lose contact with them. Truth be told I really only use trillian so i don't use the actual chat clients.

MSN does have this feature you can set your status to appear offline, and you can still chat to your contacts while appearing offline so its the same as using invisible on yahoo or icq

Thank you for the tip - I will try it out. I've only just upgraded to the latest MSN but previously you were unable to do this. It would just pop up that you are being seen as "offline" and you need to be online to have a conversation

Maybe that's what it is then - I'm definately using MSN Messenger ... it told me to upgrade the other day. I'll have to look into it now. Thanks!

What?? Where?? I can't see it ... all i can see is that stupid "appear offline" setting which isn't what I want. I want "insivible" so i can still chat to people while avoiding those I don't wish to seen my online presence.

I would use an "invisible" status feature all the time if msn had it! Right now I use Trillian, which lets me appear invisible on all of the IM services.

YESSSSSSSSS!!!! Would i ever love MSN to get an invisible status feature as the main reason why i prefer to use yahoo over msn is because of this. Sometimes i like to keep a low profile while i am online in case i am busy with other things besides chatting.

Yeah, i guess msn messender should have an invisible status. that way you can still chat to other people, and don't have to worry about certain other people sending you messages while you are busy.

MSN is the only IM I use now and I just put myself on "off line" unless I want to chat with someone. I have one "guy" that everytime I logon he instintly IMs me - I don't even have time to open my mail box which is most important to me. I would love to be able to sign onto MSN invisible!

oh I HATE people like that ... I used to have one guy I was forever avoiding and I would have only been signed in for 10 seconds and i'd have a message from him already!! I guess you could always put them on block ... unless you are like me and feel too mean about doing that!
