Who wrote it? What's it about? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm currently reading "The Bookseller Of Kabul" by Asne Seierstad. She spent 4 months living with the family of a man called Sultan Khan. He defied the Afghan authorities for years by selling books despite being imprisoned and tortured by the Taliban and having his books publicly burned. I'm about halfway through the book and I'm really enjoying it. It's not just about the bookseller himself but also things that happen in the day to day life of his family. It's a fascinating insight into another country and culture. I would definitely recommend it.

I am reading the Mill on the Floss by George Burns, I think? Its a wonderful story and I still love the simple innocent way its written and virtually travel in time reading it and picturing what a wonderful place the world used to be back then. But I am only through the first chapters I know the gets a bit messy later..

I'm reading THE SAME SWEET GIRLS by Cassandra King. It's Chick Lit but for the more "seasoned" chick. The Same Sweet Girls is the name of a club of six southern belles who went to college together. They meet twice a year for a weekend. When the book begins they are all on the cusp of turning fifty. The chapters vary points of view between the characters. We see how their lives have gone and their take on the other women. It's very good. I'm a little more than half through it and expect it will hold my attention to the end.

I am reading God Delusion, I recommend it only if you want to know if you have an open mind and have interest in religion issues (atheism).
The next book I think I will read is 1984, by Orwell (this month I am reading again some books I already read some time ago).

I'm reading two books at the moment, one at home in the evenings and one on the bus to and from work.
The first book is 'The Reality Dysfunction' by Peter F. Hamilton. It is science fiction set in the year 2611. Its told from multiple points of view, but the main character is an independent starship captain. Humanity finds itself under attack from an unknown and vastly superior enemy and must find a way to defeat the threat before their society is destroyed.
The second book is 'Excession' by Iain M. Banks. This is also science fiction (this isn't all I read, I'm just on a sci-fi kick at the moment). I've barely gotten into this one, so I don't know what its about yet.

I'm re-reading "Song of ice and fire" by George RR Martin at the moment, and yeah its a fantasy novel. Martin has very well structured and thoughtful writing, his characters are also top notch. If i had to rate the book i'd equate him to a modern day Tolkien. Just my two cents :)

I'm currently reading Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Crime & Punishment." If you have the patience for classics, go for it. I'm enjoying it; you really get into the character's mind as it goes through his trials and issues with life. Not "easy reading" by any means, but still an excellent piece of literature.

At the moment I'm reading John Grisham's "King of Torts." I'm not a John Grisham fan at all, but I'm really enjoying this book. I've even learned what a tort is. My husband, who is Grisham fan, also enjoyed the book.

The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. This is a very beautiful book, full of hope. It helped me a lot when i was having trouble with my life, when i was in doubt, in the dark, and feeling alone. This book answers the ultimate question of all, "What On Earth Am I Here For?". I would really recommend it to each & everyone of you. This book is very touching, and will help you make difficult decisions seem easier. This book was translated in almost every language.

I'm reading "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath. It's quite good thus far. The protagonist is a sort of girl version of Holden Caulfield from "The Catcher In The Rye." She's very driven academically, but then wins a contest to go to New York, and while she's there, she realizes that she really isn't doing what she wants to do. I can relate :)

I'm reading several at the moment but the main one is called The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister. It's a cutesy romance, a wee bit on the silly side, but she's a good story-teller and I always get into her characters. I'd recommend it and any of her other books, as well.

The book I'm reading right now (which I think is really good, btw) is "Overcoming Autism: Finding the Answers, Strategies, and Hope That Can Transform a Child's Life." I've renewed it twice already from my local library.. partly because I just don't have a lot of time to read, being a mom of 2 little kids. But it's a great read!

I'm currently reading "Voices from Slavery" A compendium of slave narratives that was originally published in the 1970's by Norman Yetman. It's an interesting read but a lot of the writing follows the dialect and it slows me down to read it although the stories are interesting. The next book I'm looking to read is "Lisey's story" by Stephen King.

I sometimes struggle if there's a lot of dialect in writing. I even struggled with Lewis Grassic Gibbons - Sunset Song which has lots of Scots dialect in it and I'm Scottish! Not read a Stephen King book for a while and I usually really enjoy them too. Thanks for your response funygirl38
