How many best friends do you have?

I use to have alot of best friends when I was younger but we've grown apart so away from each other over the years and I can't say I really have a "best" friend any more. I think I'm a rare case because it seems like everyone has a bestfriend except me.
So, how many best friends do you have?

I believe if you have some good friends. Do not be particular about having a best friend. I think as the time passes, concept of best friend changes. I also do not have a best friend, only friends, who share our joys and sorrows.

I agree with you - I try not to put too much into the idea of having a 'best' friend but rather alot of good friends that I can share my life with. Lately, though, I can't say I even have many good friends because they all seem to be too self-centered and only interested in themselves. The only people I want in my life are the ones who want me in theirs. I'm being a bit more selective about who I choose to be friends with in my real life - I do not have time to waste on people who don't care about keeping the friendship in tact.
Thank you for your response!

Diana, thanks so much for selecting my brief but simple answer as 'best'. I never thought that mine could be the best response. I am thankful to you for your gesture.
Delay in seeig your wonderful comments is regretted.

Maybe you can send them all a letter telling them to create a MySpace page - that way you can all stay in touch when you have time. That's what I do with the few good friends I have. I do not have time to always be calling my friends and we all have children with busy schedules so we try to pop into MySpace every few weeks and leave each other a little message.
OR Letters in the mail are always nice too so maybe you could get into the habit of writing to your friends once a month and hopefully they will write back.
Good luck!

I used to have three best friends, but now I'd say I only have one.
One of them moved and the other one and I really grew apart and have nothing in common anymore.
She's still into gossip and all that kind of stuff you do when you're younger and I've married and am thinking of starting a family soon.
I just don't have the time for that anymore.
So, yes, I'd say I have one best friend!

I only have one best friend. And that's my husband. If he doesn't count, I suppose I still only have one, and that's my little sister. She better count, or I'm all out. :)
I seriously can talk about anything to either of them. They really are my two best friends. I live 1000 miles from home now since my husband is in the Air Force. I don't really talk to most of my old friends. And my son takes up so much time now that I don't really have any close new ones. So it's definitely my husband and my little sister.

I'm not sure anymore, i still have a few best friends but we hardly meet now, it's sad that we don't know everything about each others lives as it used to be, I guess it's just for growing older and having more worries and responsibilities each one has his own life and distractions, we don't live near each other anymore and we don't have breaks or free time at the same times , even phone calls are becoming rare.. that's why I'm not sure if they are still "best friends" or not :( it's really sad but we were younger and had all the time of the world to spend together..

I've had a lot, eversince childhood. Though others are already married, we still find some time to see each other and talk about the latest happennings in our lives. I live just about a 20 minute ride away from where we used to live, so I still have time to visit my friends as often as I want!;)

Well, my husband is my best friend. I enjoy spending time with him, and he really understands me, and I never have to worry about pretense, or anything petty with him. But as far as a friend outside of him, we have a lot of friends, but none of them live close by anymore. It's hard to maintain relationships with people when you don't see them, but we have some friends that are worth the effort. THe one's that weren't we don't talk to anymore really. But we don't have many friends in town that are close by. We have one couple that we like, but they don't have children, so it's hard at times to relate with one another, we are talking about the oldest going poop on the potty, and they are talking about the latest party, so we don't see them much. (: I don't think it's as important to have a best friend as long as you have someone you can confide in. FOr me it's my hubby and my sister too. I know I can be transparent with them, and not be judged for it.

I would say that I have three best friends on this earth. I cherish each of them and believe that they also cherish me. I am not including my husband in my count of best friends, because although he is the closest to me, and whom I share everything with (nearly) he is my husband, and that is a higher position than best friend.

I have a best friend and her name is Pam. She's always there when I need to talk to her. She sticks with me through thick and thin. HeavenUnaware, You will have a best friend again. Be there for your friends when they need to talk to you.

I think you should be not particular about having a best friends.like you,i used to have a lot of best friends but as the time passed,we have less time together, and some of my best friend become unfamiliar with me.
Yeaterday,i met one of my best friend, when i called her,she just frowned at me,this makes me unhappy a whole day.
I think we will not have best friends, only friends who can share our happy and pain.
But,i wil also try my best to make a beat friend, cause we Chinese often say"a friend in need is a friend indeed."
